Welp, I was in a collision this morning.
Was going north on Fallcreek towards Binford when a guy popped a left turn right infront of my car in a intersection with NO LEFT TURN written all over it in flashing lights (seriously flashing). Those familiar with the area know the deal.
So, anyways. Everyone share your car accident experiences!

Well, I havn't really been in too many accidents, but I've had lots of near misses with those left turn incidents. At one point this old lady pulled a left turn while I was going through the intersection...I was only a few feet from slamming into her car, at about 50 mph.
Most recent accident? I got rear ended at about 35-40. A guy in front of me slammed on his breaks, and decided he wanted to turn right without a signal, in the rain. So, I stop, a few inches from his bumper, but the guy behind me slammed on his breaks and just slid right into me.
He hit me pretty hard, but driving a volvo has it's perks. No damage what so ever to my swedish tank mobile.
Yay.

Last one was last October, i was going north on US 31 through Franklin and some teenage girl decides to go from this bowling alley on one side of the street to this tiny street on the other, in the rain. So of course she hits my left front, we spin into each other, then spin the other way, my car ended up with the entire thing in the grass on the side of the road, both cars were totalled. Fair enough to say, it wasn't my fault so everything got paid for, but still...I had a minor concussion, which sucked. Don't even remember hitting my head on anything...
My only other accident was "my fault" but i still hold that it wasn't...last July i was merging into the shoulder to make a turn, and some van was back enough that i could easily make it into the shoulder, turns out i didn't look long enough and the van was doing at least 50-60 in the shoulder trying to pass people or something, iuno, but i ended up merging into their side, minor accident.
And those are my only accidents.

God I hate Fall Creek, it's like a mini preview of what Chicago is like.
Anyway the only recent accident I had was on West 38th street, some asshole rearended me while I was stopped at a red light, I was taking a drink too, and it splashed all over me. No injuries no damage, I just wish I had the presence of mind, to fake whiplash or something.

I've been in two accidents.
First one-
We were driving on US 31 in South Bend , we were turning into a parking lot to drop off ( my BF at the time) Dan at his house when a Trans Tech company truck hit us from behind and sent us into a metal pole. The hit was so hard the pole was almost all the way through the front of the car..:< and the back windshield had shattered. My grandpa was driving and me and Dane were in the back seat. We all got sent to the hospital via ambulance. I was strapped on a board and had a neck brace on...it sucked X_x; and was like this for two hours at the hospital till they could take X-rays of my neck...ugh.. in the end I had bad whiplash, a laceration on my neck from the seat belt about 4-5 in long, chipped teeth, and bruises on my stomach from the seatbelt too. ..I dont want to ever go through that again..
Second one-
I was driving down Lincolnway in South Bend and I was really tired..so my eyes were really heavy.I glanced down to look..at I dont remember what..I just remember looking up and the car in front of me's bumper was getting closer and closer..( SHIT! RED LIGHT!) I slam on my brakes and hit an ice patch and fender bender the car in front of me. 4000 dollars damage on my car...nothing on theirs...ugh that was gay.

this was a while back now, but it's really been my only real accident.
It happened a week after I just got my new car (93 pontiac grand am (hell yea)) and it was a week before I got my driver's liscence.. My dad was taking me out to practice parallel parking.
On the way back I was stopped at a red light, and a handicap van slammed into the back of me (police report said she was going about 45 mph at time of impact) luckily I saw her flying towards me in the rearview mirror and let off the brake a bit (there were no cars going through the intersection otherwise I wouldn'tve done that)
I was hit pretty far and I really didn't want to see what the back of my car was like. I just heard a leaking sound and my engine had shut off (Because of the collision). I got out of my car and to my surprise there was only a crack on my bumper but when I looked back at her handicap van (it was fairly large) I saw radiator fluid all over the ground and it ended up her van was totaled.
But the funniest part about it.... during the collision her wheelchair broke off it's sercure points and she fell over and I was tempted to not help her up. But I did... but if I was in the situation I'd just laugh at her.
It's just one more reason old people shouldn't be allowed to drive.

I was in my friends car, when we made a left turn out by the Starbucks in G-wood Across from a Target.
This other car came speeding right toward us. I guess he was in a hurry or something.
We got T-Boned right in the middle of the intersection. The passenger side(the seat I was in) was the only part of the car that got hit, but it was a friggin' deep dent. We spun 1 1/2 times before we finally stopped.
But yeah. That's my story.

How ironic that this thread should pop up...I just had my first this morning, entirely not my fault.
ClifNotes version: Freight Truck backed into me.
Details: I was at the Shell station, checking my tires because I was paranoid about my right front. There was this freight truck parked at the vacuum in front of me, so I decide to not park in the box (too close), but further back. Still, I had to be able to access the air hose, so I parked about halfway in the box.
While checking what pressure was appropriate for my car, I start hearing beeping, looking up to see the truck backing up towards me. I yelled, but that didn't work. I tried my horn, but it's hard enough to honk in the driver's seat (in the passenger seat, as I found out, it's pretty impossible).
He was really nice about it, exchanging info, making sure I was okay, which of course I was. It was a very low-speed collision. The damage to my car was chipped paint, cracked plastic on the nose, and a very slightly bowed hood on the right side. All easily fixed, and none affecting the car's ability to run.
He, on the other hand, got a nice dent in his metal bumper the shape of a '94 Saturn's nose. Turns out that despite the fact that it was his fault, I did more damage.
So I'm safe, my car still drives, and my stepdad's gonna freak when he gets back in town. Hey, while the dealership is fixing it, maybe I can get that tune-up I need...

Well.. the last accident I was in was with Shaun.. But.. other than that.. uhhh..
August something of last year.. I was coming home from the mall.. imagine Coliseum & Coldwater, 3:30 pm.. Friday afternoon.. yea.. anyway.. this lady in front of me slammed on her brakes.. and I hit her about 5 miles per hour.. very very very little damage to my car.. cracked paint.. they were trying to say I did about $40k damage to their car, and put a woman in the hospital for a month.. yea right.. at 5 mph.. my insurance company is still investigating it for fraud..
Accident before that.. mom's car.. Coliseum, November 7th... 7pm.. raining.. pitch dark, woman rear ended somebody and turned off car, no hazards or anything.. my mom slammed into her.. they were trying to say it was my mom's fault.. but the police report had been changed.. cop was put on suspension, woman driving mini-van was arrested, and yea..
First accident.. I was like.. eight.. going through Elkhart, or Mishawaka, or Goshen, some town like that.. and got t-boned in an intersection because somebody ran a red light.. That somebody was drunk.. We flipped 1 3/4 times.. I smacked my head on the pavement, my mom, the passenger in the other car, and I all had to go to the hospital in neck braces... thankfully everybody in our car was wearing their seatbelt.. Anyway.. I had a concussion and minor brain damage.. I get headaches almost every day from it.. and a migraine at least three times a week..

I got rear ended in the yield lane at Jefferson/Ardmore last September when I was just sitting there and the guy thought I went or something.
I also rear ended an asshole in a mini van on SR 14 down by Hadley Road, but not quite in December.
Yeah...I don't really know what happened there, he was going really slow for a 45 mph zone.
