Yup, I would advising not buying one right now. Being the electronics guy @ work, i heard from the nentendo rep who heard fromt he sony rep that the first round of PSPs asre defective, because their buttons, after repeated pressing, will fall into the unit and under the screen. Just an FYIxK1 wrote:If I get one at all, it'll be in a year or so. Between the 4 broken PS1s and 3 broken PS2s in my family I've learned not to trust launch-versions of Sony videogame systems.

Nah, it's still better than the Virtual BoyCaseyDidder wrote:DS is the biggest bomb nintendo has ever thrown out.

And besides, the sticky square button isn't a defect, it's a feature.

They later admitted the mistake and offered replacements.

I don't want to turn this into a retarded DS vs PSP flame war, so I'll just make one post on the topic and then be done with it.
I'm not buying a PSP at the moment for the following reasons:
1) Shoddy track record of Sony launch systems
2) Too expensive (for $250 and $40~$50 games, I'd rather just buy a PS2)
3) Short (albeit rechargable) battery life (I won't be surprised if down the line they offer ones with longer battery lives, another reason why I'm waiting)
4) While it's nice that it is trying to be an all-in-one system, if I wanted an mp3 player I'd buy an iPod, and the screen is two small (and once again the battery life is too short) for me to justify it as a movie player
I did buy a DS though. Now I can't say that I'm not dissapointed in it, but for the most part I am satisfied. The glaring problem with it right now is the lack of quality software, but with things like Advance Wars, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and online play down the line I can wait. Yes, it is retarded that they don't have better stuff out right now, but by the same token outside of Wipeout Pure or Ridge Racers there isn't much that interests me on the PSP either.

actually PSP is 199.99 but the 249.99 is a package that gives you the memory card, case, other free crap, and spiderman2 the movie on a mini DVD, and some limited edition crap.xK1 wrote:I don't want to turn this into a retarded DS vs PSP flame war, so I'll just make one post on the topic and then be done with it.
