For those not in the know, anime is a culturally rich form of drawing common in Japan. It has gained popularity across the world, but Merk continues to express his disinterest in the quality of the animation and the culture surrounding it.



Despite his unwavering assertions that he'll have nothing to do with it, we see time and time again that he has a wealth of knowledge about the subject, and regularly brings up the topic he "can't stand." I see one of two things going on here:

1. He's a closet Otaku, or something similar, and refuses to admit to himself and the world that he likes something that doesn't fit into the mainstream.

2. Something happened to him when he was growing up that caused him to despise anime and those that take pleasure in it.

Either way, he needs our support in facing his problems head on. Hell, a quick search for anime on IndyDDR shows 62 posts he has written using the word anime. Compare this to Riot (36) Me (36) and Brian (8) and it's pretty clear there is some sort of obsessive factor we don't fully understand.
