Yeah, it snowed today...obviously. Anybody have any interesting stories about what happened to them today?
It gave me an excuse to show up to school and work late.
I'll also try to go outside later and make a giant Katamari ball of snow by rolling a basketball around. Heck, let's have a contest. Biggest Katamari wins.

I got off work at about 7 in the morning, and had a very treacherous drive home. The grand city of Fort Wayne had the lovely idea to lay off a lot of it's snow plow drivers, just in time for winter.....needless to say, roads were hell.

My district was the only one around that didn't get canceled today.
I've never driven in wintry conditions before.
I almost died like, 3 times this morning.

Despite having a license for 15 months, I'm really good at snow driving, since I live in the middle of jack-nowhere and the snow is especially bad here.
Easy steps for snow driving:
1. Tap the gas. Give it some gas for a few seconds at a time. Try and keep a constant speed, but mainly 5-10 MPH below the limit.
2. Follow the tracks in front of you. Odds are the road has been traveled before, so keep your tires in the area where the tracks are deepest.
3. When skidding, remove foot entirely from gas. DO NOT hit the brake. Simply ease into course-correcting, adjust, give it a second, then carry on.

obviously wrong. proper thing to do is to give it as much gas as possible, while steering in a fashion to keep the car as sideways as possible for as long as possible. bonus points for keeping it sideways all the way to the next turn

My current car had the ABS and traction control module go out, so I have no ABS what so ever...So, I have to brake gradually, little bits at a time. It also helps to drop the car into lower gears when you're decelerating (I drive an automatic, by the way.) I drop mine into 3rd if the intersection where I'm stopping is bad...if it's too bad, I drop to low gear, and the car will usually come to a stop without having to brake much at all. Helps when you're tring to get moving again, too.

NEVER correct the oversteer too early, as this will make you look like a total noob.
