Halloween is back!
We've got about a month and a half left until it rolls around once again!
I was messing around just a bit ago, and I found a site that I found very helpful in some fun ventures that I've taken in the last year.
http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/haunt ... ndiana.htm
It's a huge list of haunted places in Indiana. Even if you don't believe in the stuff, it's an entertaining read, and they're very interesting places to check out.
I've been to the Bruick Road location mentioned in the Fort Wayne section many times, and the things that happen there never cease to amaze me. I wish that I would have been able to visit the Byron Health Center (a.k.a. the Stairway to Hell) before they tore it down, but alas, I was too late.
Check out some of these places for yourselves, though! n_n
Also, use this thread to post pictures of costumes you plan on wearing, or plans that you have for Halloween!

May as well. Can't hurt, right?Yume_Taira wrote:I don't need to go too far to find ghosts. There's one in my neighborhood. It's been a while since I've tired to see him again...maybe I should do so before I leave for college.
Nothing noteable has happened in my house in quite a while. I still frequently get the feeling that I'm being watched, but things could be much worse. n_x

The stairway to hell story is true, from what I've heard. My mom used to work there...but it's not just the basement staircase that's haunted. That entire place is teeming with wierd activity.
The old building used to be a tuburculosis clinic, from what I've heard. Many people died there, obviously, and the old building/tunnels especially are very frightening.
The website says the stairway to hell is gone, but those buildings are still there.
Also, the tunnel system under byron stretches out for a very, very long way...even if the stairway to the basement is gone, those tunnels are still there. There are other ways to access them, different buildings around the property, but I don't know where they all are...and to be honest, I don't really want to go down there and look.

Yay for Halloween thread!! Thanks for the links; I knew about most of the Bloomington places listed, but not all of them...
Some pix from last year...
My daughter Paige was Gandalf...

My son Ian was a fire engine....

And most of you have seen these of me and Talia, but I have to post them again because they still crack me up....

I'm probably not going to dress up this year; how can I top that?

I've never even herd of a fabricated ghost story or anything supernatual, even as a joke or a lie, happening at the Sigma Pi House. The only things haunting the house are the far more frigtening drunk sorority girls with multiple vaginal deseases.
There is no such bridge in Vincennes.Vincennes
Purple Head Bridge - One story is there is an old one lane toll bridge that cross the Wabash river on the outskirts (south 6th road) to saint Francesville IL . It is said that long ago it was a place where a man jumped from the bridge to hang his self. When he did his head ripped off, and was never found. If you go there on a raining night and park on the bridge and wait you WILL SEE a purple head floating toward you. The other is the bridge is supposedly a bridge they hung people off of in the 1800s, giving it its name purple head. Vincennes University legend has it that if you go out there you will hear screams from the spirits that have been hung.
Never been in there =\Sacred Heart Church/School - If you go into the gym of Sacred Heart, you will feel thin air. When you go to the center of the court, you will feel like people are pushing you. In the hallway, there were tiny bare footprints spotted in the dust. They started, then quickly stop. There is no other sign of people anywhere else.
NOTE: This was a few years ago. They could've cleaned the area since then, to hide the evidence found.
The only thing "Strange Clouds" in the Sigma Pi house are from pot smokers. I've been in that house plenty of times, and I'm friends with several of the residents. If there was anything haunting the Sigma Pi House, real or otherwise, I would have herd about it.Sigma Pi House - Is said to be haunted by Civil War Colonel. Doors open and close as well as strange clouds and figures appear all the time.

I've acutally herd about those stories from some of my friends who go there. But the main dormitory isn't "O'Shaughnessy Hall" it's "La Faire Hall," and these hauntings are suppose to be in there. I've never even herd of "O'Shaughnessy Hall." There are tons of other ghost stories I've herd from the girls there, such as painting crying blood and things of that nature, but I've never seen anything supernatural happen on that campus, and I've spent quite a lot of time there.St. Mary of the Woods College - Located on Hwy 150 just outside of Terre Haute the historic theatre is home to an apparition best described as a floating nun that on occasion can be seen late at night, as well as hearing footsteps of someone running up and down the stairs when there is no one else in the building. In addition to the theatre, there are tunnels under the campus (sad to say they are closed to the public) where many spirits have been seen or heard. There is also the unusual blood spot located in the main dormitory called O'Shaughnessy Hall. In one of the rooms there is a blood stain that looks like a face in the wall. The stain came from the early days of the school in the 1800's when a nun took her life. Although many attempts to remove the stain have been tried even when it appears to have been cleaned it mysteriously re appears days later to the same form and color which it was before. The name of the town that the school is in is St. Mary of the Woods, Indiana

Dunno, kid. I just posted the website. The validity of all of these things is immensely questionable.Grubb wrote:*Checks out website Mosh Mosh posted*

Like I said, though, if you get a chance, check a few out. While real or not, sometimes it's good to just go and scare the shit out of yourself. n_x
Since I haven't been to 95% of the towns even listed, like I said, I can't stand behind the validity of any of these stories.
If you live in these places, though, and check some of them out, or have heard things from the people around you about these places, please let me know. I like paying a visit to the orb on Bruick, because it's very, very reliable. There's only been once that I went that I didn't see it. I would like to find another very reliable place like that, in my area or not, and visit there.
Jinchuu, the Hundred Steps thing sounded cool to me, too. =D At one point, I had a printed list of all this stuff and had highlighted all of the ones I wanted to check out. I just looked into the Garden Center place that you wanted to visit in Kokomo, too. Did you read the stories of previous residents of the place? Dear sweet mother of god...what was going on with those babies...... I could never, ever go there. That scares the shit out of me. Seriously. ;-;

Those "Orbs" the website keeps mentioning are what photographers call "Lens Flares," and are extreamly common, They are caused my light reflecting on the camera lens at odd angels. And as for the "Mists" they keep photographing, I can make the exact same effect with the "Dodge" tool on Photoshop.Mosh_Mosh_Revolution wrote:Dunno, kid. I just posted the website. I, personally, don't think this website has any validity at all.

Not all paranormal photography is trickery. Yeah, it's easy to create some of those effects in photoshop, I can do it to...the orbs they're refering too aren't lense flare, since plenty of orb activitiy can be detected with your eyes alone. Some people rely on cheap trickery to get attention...but a large number of ghost hunters are legitamate.
There are also plenty of paranormal things that aren't recorded, such as the stairway to hell story, and many others.
Just because you CAN fabricate something, doesn't mean that every occurance is fabricated.
Some people never encouter supernatural activity, while some can't get away from it. Even if you were to go to a well documented, proven 'haunted house,' there's no guarantee you'll encounter anything at all. Some people create, for lack of a better term, spiritual dead zones.
On the flipside, some people encounter supernatural activity almost anywhere they go...even the most mundane places can have spiritual activity.
Everyone is different, so individual levels of spiritual reception, or whatever you wanna call it, vary greatly.
