I fell asleep last night at 1:30am and that was actually pretty early for me. There are just so many wonderful things on the internet that need consuming and I feel obligated to consume them.

I'm not sure when your school day starts but I had to get up at 7am when I was in high school and I hated it. I have never had to get up that early at any other time in my life so I have no idea what lesson our school was trying to teach us by starting classes balls early.

My bus arrives at 6:30am this year.

Welp, I can't argue with people that didn't read the article! How about the weather today guys?!?!

TL;DR - Cedar Faire overworks employees, packs employees into sub-standard apartments, controls every aspect of an employee's life, offers next to no health care, overtly exploits foreign labor, and in general does shit that would be absolutely awful PR if the media ever caught wind of it.

I mean yeah, Wal-Mart and McDonald's are shitty unskilled jobs too but they don't whisk you away to northern Ohio and force you to live in their company housing and eat $15 hamburgers at the company food court while depriving you of basic necessities (lol who needs an oven to cook their own food!?!? Microwave ramen all day nub!). Hurf durf it's a job for retarded college kids but that doesn't make it right to treat them like trash.

My mother once worked at King's Island perhaps a very long time ago and it sounds like nothing but a horrible place to work. I've heard nothing but bad things about working there.

Nobody's forcing them to work there, live there, or buy their food and plenty of jobs have no health care.

I skimmed some of the complaints. The way in which they were presented lead me to believe that they were exaggerated, biased, or just downright false. That's not to say I believe the company is faultless--just that the presentation of arguments doesn't incite outrage in me (or make me want to read any more). Instead, it only makes me question the poster's motives.

If things were really that bad there, anonymously posting about it on the interwebs is not the best way to affect change. Be a whistleblower, not a cryass.

Right, except people who are working full-time hours are not getting the required by law health care they need and Cedar Faire isn't paying penalties because they label their workers as seasonal through legal loopholes. You can argue that Cedar Faire is just playing the game in their favor but that doesn't make them any less horrible.

No one forces anyone to work anywhere so I'm not sure what your point is. That doesn't change the fact that they treat their employees like shit, they're a horrible company, and they should not be given money until they improve working conditions. This is why unions exist and businesses like Wal-Mart and Cedar Faire who actively prevent their workforce from unionizing are assholes.

This dude can be a whistleblower all he wants but if nobody in the media cares then what good does it do? Most people are going to have the Brian Ho attitude of "lolol well those dumbasses they shouldn't work there!!" like they do with Wal-Mart and nothing will be done. Besides, whistleblowing only works when a company is screwing the customer, not its own employees.

You pick the most awkward causes to suddenly champion. Is it really worth being up in arms over a few angsty amusement park workers? I'm sure you've enjoyed many pleasures that exploit cheap labor in far worse ways.

That was precisely my point unless they are slave labor, which is not being alleged in this case.

All I'm saying is that if things are really that bad, this person could be doing a lot more good by doing something other than posting a diatribe on the internet. If he had pursued a legal avenue and Cedar Fair (no e) had been investigated and prosecuted for these alleged injustices, that would be one thing. But instead, his approach is so inflammatory as to make me simply dismiss him with no merit.

I never said I condoned the type treatment being alleged, but I have no proof that anything being alleged is actually true. All I have is this guy's word, and he has no standing with me whatsoever. It's going to take more than some anonymous guy ranting on the internet for me to declare Cedar Fair a demon.

I've visited this like five times today and have not encountered any new posts. Also too lazy to RSS or "subscribe" to threads or whatever you wackos do.
