Gen Con was fun and I met White Dragon at the Protomen five-other-bands concert.
I almost bought a shitton of Weeaboo stuff, but then I remembered I still lived with my family and I didn't want to deal with the explanation business. Plus I realized I had already spent over $100 buying meals and throwing money at people and crap.
Most importantly, though, I saw a Fluttershy and a Madotsuki cosplayer. Totally didn't expect a Mado at Gen con.

The problem with education is you are getting yourself into significant debt, and for what? With a house at least you have a place to live and property with real value (even if it may be much less than what you paid for it). With a college degree you have what? A piece of paper? That nearly everybody else has these days? The competitive edge that a degree gives you in the workplace now only exists for degrees with direct job applications, like medical or engineering.
You could then say, "but that just means you need to get a college degree to get any job!" This is true, but is also the reason it is turning into a bubble. It is getting to the point where being a cashier is going to start requiring a degree to get the job. More jobs require degrees, more people get degrees. More people get degrees, more jobs can require degrees. Eventually market factors will have to take effect and normalize the fucked up situation of people going $50,000 into debt for an $8/hr job.

Yeah but the overwhelming majority of universities don't take responsibility for telling kids up front the job prospects of their degrees.
"We have career services available!"
Well, unless that Philosophy major wants to go into academia (in which case he better be getting his Ph.D. at a top 5 school), his prospects are slim to none in the real world. It's almost criminal how they let people go through 4 year programs in useless departments.

There's so much going on in that .gif! I love the chick on the left who is pulling off crocodile tears while people are hooping and hollering and just generally pushing her out of the way.

Probably bitch up and do it because she's insecure and can't make decisions for herself.
She's not really my favorite role model.

You're damn right she isn't. She's a
cartoon pony.
