Occasionally we do. I mean, we talk about video games and life's little mysteries from time to time.

We don't talk about politics, religion, or space travel if that's what you mean. Most political discussions here turn into "Hurf durf OBAMBAH DON'T EAT MEETS" and any religion talks turn into a "I AM NOT A SHEEP YOU ARE A SHEEP YOUR CHRISTIAN GOD IS A LIE I AM GOING TO BE A JEWISH THEY DO NOT EXPLOIT I WILL NOT DONATE TO ANY CHARITY THAT IS THROUGH A CHURCH" shit-fest with a side of trolling for trolling's sake. I wonder though if Original Sin will pop back in and post if we start discussing religion which would be fuuuuunny.

What would you like to discuss Mr. Potter?

Do you want to talk about which movies suck and which IDM artists sold out when they crossed the threshold of over 100 listeners?

Touche, touche. I can see how people would find other people's weekend plans uninteresting and we really do talk about them quite often here on IndyDDR since it's convenient for us and not everyone can browse Facebook at work.

Well, Potter, what sort of things are you and Fodeesha doing these days?

Don't ask, don't tell.

This Friday is payday and I'm not sure what to blow my dollars on.

THINGS I NEED TO DO:
- Pay Riot
- Pay off Amazon Credit Card (I have about $250 left and I have until May to pay it)
- Buy plane ticket to Vegas for my week of April 18th vacation.

THINGS I'D LIKE TO DO:
- Finish up buying computer parts (About $350 left to go on this)
- Get some sort of gym membership to work off my fat ass. Are there any good gyms in Indy that aren't gay bath houses?
- Save some money for EVO in July with Chad.
- Save up for a Yamaha DTX Drum kit

I am not limited to this list. What should I spend my money on guys?

^^^ Gonna need suggestions on this guys ^^^

Riot how has your spring break been going? How's Final Fantasy treating you?

You know the teaching job may not be so bad. You fucking get the summer off and winter/spring break off. That's like 80+ vacation days. When you get a salary is it spread out through the calendar year or the school year?

I get 27 and I'm hoarding the shit out of them.

Final Fantasy was great, I beat it last night. The story is a bit convoluted and underdeveloped, but honestly the insane quality of the graphics and style of the game is breathtaking at times and makes up for it in my opinion. The battle system is fun and frantic and really shines in some of the later bosses in the game. Gran Pulse, the giant nature planet you get to towards the end of the game is probably my favorite area in any videogame ever. It is beautiful, massive, and the music is awesome. There is so much to do! Sometimes I just stop and stare off the cliffs into the background because the environment detail is just awe-inspiring. After you beat the main the story you unlock some extra stuff and then you can really take on the 64 monster hunts the game offers... the last 20 hunts or so are harder than the main boss of the game, so they're pretty much the super bosses of the game.

Teaching salary is paid out year-round I believe. I only work for the school year but I get paid biweekly throughout the year. Since me and Meg are both teachers, we'll have 3 months of the same vacation time every year which will be really nice.

Yeah that's pretty baller but I can see now why they keep teacher salaries relatively low since you only work 18 weeks a year. I wonder how many hours a teacher works in the year. Regular full time jobs are 2080 (52*40) hours a year. 40 hours a week.

Hmm

Let's say you work 49 hours a week. 7 hours a weekday teaching and then two hours a day including weekends on average grading and shit. The school years at H-Town were 18 weeks long excluding breaks. Sooooo 18*49 = 882 hours. Damn, that's not a lot of time working. If you and I had the exact same salary I'd say you got the better end of the deal.

Yeah that doesn't include PTA meetings and curriculum planning and all the other stuff the kids never see in the background and all the union politics and all the anti-establishment kids who will go nowhere in life but still, 882 hours. That's less than half of the regular working man's time.

Why can I not be baller?

Where the hell are you getting 18 weeks? We work 36.... four 9-week quarters per school year. Yes there is a lot of outside work though. A LOTTTT of planning and grading and aligning stuff with standards. Then you have meetings, parent stuff, conferences, etc.

Nice thing about being a teacher though is there is a guaranteed $1000 or so raise every year and after 3 years you get tenure and it's super hard/impossible to get rid of you!

HA

My bad, I guess I was only thinking of one semester. You see it's been a while since I was in high school. When do they do high school reunions? 10 years? Shit in four years I'll be able to impress everyone with my loads of money.

ANYWAY, Riot, you will still work less hours than me. Maybe like 1750 hours total. That's 290 hours less than the workin' man. 290 / 8 means that you get 36 working days off, not including school vacations, and that's pretty ballin' man enjoy your vacations I'll be at work posting on messageboards.

Nah trust me I don't work less than you. A typical school week (and this is student teaching, there are still some days where I leave early for my carpool) is about 50-60 hours. Mondays and Wednesdays I have meetings after school from 3:05-5:00, and on the other days I am usually staying after to get things graded, planned, or staying after to supervise kids' clubs or have parent meetings. Plus you gotta do more planning during the night time usually. Basically, I'm there from 7:15 - 4:15 or 5:15 every day... not even considering the hour it currently takes to get there and to get back =( Busy from 5:30 in the morning til 6:30 at night every day. It's very strenuous during the schoolyear, but I love the extended breaks!
