Street Fighter IV video interview with Seth Killian (community manager and SF champion player) awhile back for GameZombie that just got put out with the game coming out now. Game looks pretty sweet I kinda wanna get it even though I'm bad at Street Fighter.

And as for your answer I used it to spice things up cuz it can get bland without it, especially because the lighting was so bad (read: nonexistent). It also helped with transitions and masking certain things, plus red is VIOLENT like FIGHTING like STREET FIGHTER and also fits with the whole gamezombie vibe.
