Merk tipped me off. Probably the most intelligent business decision they've ever made. Over/under on how much they raise?

Jesus Christ, they were at 37k last night, 57k when I got to work, and now they're at 69k

I'm guessing this place probably pulls in 69k every 8 months or so.

Selling religious fervor will always bring in the big bucks. I bet they break 200k.

It might take a bit for all the rural folk to figure out how to get on that internet thing, but the inbred redneck is powerful once invoked. I'm going to change my number to a cool 1 million dollars.

Remember that crappy bus monitor that cried when some little kids made fun of her and got $654,601.89?

I love how everyone has basically exploited this media circus for their own personal gain. The law is not going to change, no gays are going to get oppressed, no business is going to go under, and in one month people will have forgotten about this.

Just like the God damn Chic-fil-a bullshit that happened.

They have broken 100k

They also surreptitiously changed their goal from 35k to 100k. I love it, I love exploitation.

Seems like it would be more efficient to simply found a televangelism project or mega church, but then I don't know this market very well. I guess the risk on this is minimal and ROI should be decent, if modest in terms of total return.

Speaking purely from a business point of view, that is.

Town population as of 2013: 2,248
She's going to be the most wealthy person in the city by far.

Almost up to 250k

God damn... Fuck working, just play the victim and espouse some beliefs of a popular religion during the apex of a controversy and make a shit load of money.

That's the idea. This whole thing is an obvious act to get people emotionally charged. I'm sure she's going to get a fair amount of death threats for quite a while, so the money comes with some undesirable attention. She's painting quite a target on herself for the hacker community as well. Guessing we'll be seeing some identity fraud in the not too distant future.
