The cat spots the spider, and moves in for the attack!  A quick claw swipes at the spider, but the spider evades and begins to scurry across the floor into the kitchen.  The cat appears undeterred and prepares to continue its assault.

Pull out a bottle of white vinegar from pantry (which repels spiders) and sprinkle it on spider

You quickly dash for the pantry.  The light is still off, so it takes a few moments to locate the white vinegar.

You have the bottle of vinegar, but that's as much as you can accomplish on your turn.

The cat closes on the spider.  The cat attacks the spider with a claw and misses.  The cat attacks the spider with a 2nd claw, and misses.  The cat attempts to bite the spider, and hits doing 1 point of damage.  The spider is half inside the cats mouth.  You can't say for certain whether or not it is dead, but it doesn't look good for the eight-legged intruder.

You grab the box of pasta.  As you turn to exit the pantry, you see your partner has just walked into the kitchen.  You didn't even hear her come down the stairs.

"What was all that noise about the cat?  Why are you holding a bottle of vinegar?"

Explain the cat's murderous prowess. Check stove...is our water boiling yet?

You explain what happened.

"Hah.  You're crazy.  Here, I'll take over dinner.  You can go play videogames."

Your partner takes the pasta from you.  

You gain 50 xp for helping your partner prepare dinner and vanquishing the spider.  950 more xp until level 2.

And this concludes the pasta making campaign. Sankyu for pray!

This pretty much sounds like life at my house except that neither Belinda nor I are afraid of spiders.

I mean, Australian man-eating death spiders, sure...but the typical Indiana house spider, no.
