If you can 'prove' ghosts exist, go here and claim your $1,000,000.00 prize. Randi is a former magician who is now a prominent skeptic and debunker of psychics and other scam artists.

No there isn't.
Potter wrote:Actual ghosts have been for sure seen over and over agian and everybody knows it.
Umm, I don't "Know it" so not everybody does. A lot of people I've met who believe is ghost, and especially ones who've claimed to have had "Supernatural Encounters" all seem almost too eager to assume every little gust of wind, brownout, and creek they experience is somehow supernatural, when it is infact "Natural."

And don't give me crap about stuff like "Ohh... you don't believe and that's why you can't seem them." Because claiming that is a really crappy way to justify their exhistance, and franky, that's just silly.
Potter wrote:Just go see for yourself.
See what for myself? There's nothing to see!
Potter wrote:Saying theres no such thing as ghosts is like saying 9/11 didnt happen. Just because it doesent make sense and you don't like it doesent make it untrue.
Like SoDeep said, that's a really stupid comparison. Obvoiously, 9/11 did happen, because there were a couple hunderd thousand people who watched it happen with their own eyes along with a several tousand who died from the experience. Not to mention the several dozen photographic and video records of the event which have been seen by every person in the world who has atleast some connection to the media.

Compairing September 11th to Ghosts on the same level of "Reality" is stupid. "Real" isn't a realitive term. It's either one thing or the other. It either exhists or doesn't exhist. There isn't a medaphysical inbetween that's "Kinda-real" or anything. Ghosts are either real or they're not. In this case: "Not"

I consider myself very level headed and logical when it comes to science. I would like to state some facts:

An object will only move when acted upon by an external force.

if in a vaccuum, the only force acting on the object is the walls of the object, photons and gravity.

Given that, I would like to say I don't know if ghosts exist or not. I will say something though. It is physically IMPOSSIBLE for an object to move another object when it is massless or can "go through walls"

If ghosts exist, and are able to travel through walls then they have no way to move an object.

Now moving through walls, let me explain how that is impossible. There is very little that can penetrate walls. What can is certain waves. This would be like radio waves or Gamma radiation. These are able to go through walls because they don't physically exist. It is impossible for a single helium atom to penetrate a concrete wall. Given that... I can confidently say that it would be impossible for an object that can go through walls to have any physical properties at all. This means they cannot exist as photons, which in turn would make them impossible to see because of no emitted light.

You cannot see energy..

Now let's suppose Ghosts are real. This is assuming they are made up of an "unknown type of energy" (which actually is somewhat possible because we don't fully understand energy) They cannot be seen, and cannot manupilate objects because they don't have physical properties. The only possible thing that could happen then is when it comes in contact with an object, it would then just excite the atoms in the object and cause it to SLIGHTLY (I mean slightly) heat up. It could theoretically cause the object to glow due to electron jumping but that would be an EXTREMELY isolated case.

So, if the afforementioned ghost came in contact with you, you would not feel a chill, you would actually feel warmer because the atoms in your body would have more energy thus they would release the energy to get back to a ground/stable state (meaning you would feel the energy(heat) it released.) I will once again say, I don't know if they exist or not. But I DO NOT believe in ghosts that can fly around, manipulate objects and fly through walls. It is physically impossible. If you doubt anything I said at all, just ask me about it and I can explain it in more detail. Or you can throw any questions about it.

That's a good explaination of current physics, but as you said, we have come no where near understanding all the different types of energy and different elements that make up what we call 'reality.' We discover new things all the time...Perhaps 'ghosts' are made up of a form of energy we have not been able to understand yet.
Now, let me clarify something. Ghosts scare the everliving shit out of me. Seriously. If I encounter anything supernatural, my first instinct is to apply something logical to it, because I really, really don't want to believe there's a dead girl lying in my bed with her arm around me, or there is something behind me literally breathing down my neck. I'm not sure if I'm overly sensitive or what, but I've dealth with these things since I was a little kid, and believe me, that makes for a very, very odd childhood.

Something else to keep in mind, if you have any interest or faith in religion, is that ghosts may of a higher power, or the actual souls of those who have died. There are some things out there that can't seem to be explained any other way. There are also some forms of spiritual activity that seem ultimately good, or evil....Angels and Demons, to those of you who read the bible. Almost every culture identifies them, but gives them different names. Christianity is the only religion I know of that has defined them, and split them so evenly down the middle in a good/evil fashion. For all we know, these things could just be unnaturally powerful spirits. Good and evil is generally little more than a matter of perspective, anyway.

I've actually encountered a few situations in which the rapid heating of the atmosphere occured. Very, very strange.
I've been told that a ghost that has this effect on people is actually far more dangerous than one that creates a chill. As you said, the heat sensation means that it would be giving off energy, which implies that is has a great deal more than your average ghost.
I'm not sure how ghosts can manipulate the environment. No logical explaination really makes a whole lot of sense, but I've seen it happen a number of times before. Seeing a whole rack of swords lift into the air and hurl themselves across my bedroom isn't exactly something that's easily explained...especially when they had been sitting in the same place, untouched and unmoving, for a couple months.

I was messing around just a bit ago, and I found a site that I found very helpful in some fun ventures that I've taken in the last year.

http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/haunt ... ndiana.htm

It's a huge list of haunted places in Indiana. Even if you don't believe in the stuff, it's an entertaining read, and they're very interesting places to check out.

I've been to the Bruick Road location mentioned in the Fort Wayne section many times, and the things that happen there never cease to amaze me. I wish that I would have been able to visit the Byron Health Center (a.k.a. the Stairway to Hell) before they tore it down, but alas, I was too late.

Check out some of these places for yourselves, though! n_n

Also, use this thread to post pictures of costumes you plan on wearing, or plans that you have for Halloween!

uhm my road is on that site..I live on Primrose Rd in South Bend...check the info...lololol..

well I actually don't live ON the haunted part..but its the thought that counts...read all of it...cause all the area that are " haunted" are near my house...who wants to visit me?...hahaha
o_o Primrose sounded sweet.

Buuuuunnnnyyyyyy........! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Care to invite a fellow Ivy Techie/DDRer/anime girl over for a weekend???

So I read. o_o That really sucks that they're throwing you out on your ear for something stupid like that.

Then again, my parents would probably do the same thing. -.-

I haven't been to the site to look more into what you're talking about. My assumption, though, is that most of the people trying to get in on the money are women. To which I have two replies, one for you side, and one for mine. There's more than a chance that a lot of them are just out for the money. I've no doubt. It's a huge sum, after all. If I remember right, though (correct me if I'm wrong on this), it's generally accepted among people that believe the supernatural exists that women are more perceptive to activity around them than men are.
No more eggs! :D
An actual signature will come soon, I suppose.

Cold-Water Rd - Wal-Mart - Around 3am-4am in the morning, shoppers and workers hear bagpipes playing a Scottish tune. Shortly when song ends, a man in a green plaid kilt makes his appearance by pacing the floors. When he walks by you, you will get a cold eerie feeling. This ghost is known to be friendly.
-.0 You're shittin' me, right? He's just there to collect the left over pennies at the U-scan.

Yeah, I laughed when I read that. I hadn't visited this site since last year around this time, and there's actually been a lot of updates.
