I happened to be in the mall. Security guards locked us in Bath & Body Works for about 20 - 30 minutes. They wouldn't let anyone leave the store, and employees were on edge since they heard shots were fired at the AMC Theater. There were a ton of black teenagers (racist, but true) hanging out in one of the mall's courts making more noise than I'd ever heard in a mall. I hate going to malls.

Oh shit you were there? I remember reading that article over the weekend and thinking, "Man, I had no idea that fucking Castleton Square Mall was so God damn hood"
I figured with it being as nice as it is and as close to the north side that it is that it would be your standard, everyday, "I'm definitely not going to get killed here" type of mall. Crime in Indy only happens on the East side
The weekend after Christmas had some similar conditions due to how crowded it was there. When I stopped by FYE, I was thinking "this may end badly" due to an altercation taking place the at the mall I frequent with my girlfriend the night before. (http://www.elkharttruth.com/news/crime- ... awaka.html has more info on that.)

Castleton, especially the mall area during the holidays, can be highly variable. You're maybe thinking of Keystone at the Crossing?

It was just a bunch of 14-17 year olds. Nothing to be afraid of. Kids' parents drop them off at the mall, they act crazy and do dumb things, and white people freak out about it and post on message boards. It's the way of the world.
Which mall is the one near Dave & Buster's, One World Market, and all that other shit? That's the mall I'm thinking of here.
