Colts have a legit shot at winning this Sunday though. Broncos have been playing like ass and as long as we can keep the turnovers down I think the Colts win handily.
So should the Broncos re-name themselves to the Donkeys?
I don't get the joke.

It feels great to see the Colts win but because of Baltimore's fuck up it feels like the most hollow of victories. New England is going to curbstomp the Colts just like they do every year - we can't block the run and the Tom Brady to Gronkowski connection is OP. There's a non-zero chance the Colts could win but it's going to require some..... Luck.....
With that being said that's the best game the defense has played since they shut out Cincinnati in the regular season. They definitely didn't play perfectly and they need to do something about LaRon Landry in the off-season but they held the Denver offense to a single touchdown which is really the best you could ask for. Denver admittedly played like shit but Peyton and their playcalling didn't do them any favors. I don't know if there was just a bunch of miscommunication between him and his receivers or if Peyton was too hyped up but he made some pretty bad overthrows. Why the fuck would they call a little 3-yard crossing pass on a 4th & 8 that will end the game if you don't convert?
Offense played well and Pep called another good game. The Luck interceptions where about as "meh, whatever" as you can get since they were both effectively punts. Otherwise the RBs did their job to help grind the clock and they didn't turn the ball over. I applaud Josh Cribbs' effort but holy shit mang it's okay to call a fair catch and not get your brains scrambled every time you field a punt.
Anyway, there's a stark difference between 2013 Manning and 2014 Manning. I want to say it's because Denver as a whole was a lot more banged up this year but it's hard to not ignore the fact that Peyton is another year older and his arm strength and speed are a little weaker. I think the telltale sign of his age was the 3rd & 5 play they failed to convert where Peyton had probably 20 or so yard of open field in front of him -- he could have totally ran for the first down but he instead went for a long high-risk high-reward pass that went incomplete. Peyton has never been much of a runner but 5 years ago he would have totally attempted to run that ball because his spergy football brain would have told him to go for the easy conversion. Should he retire? He's still better than most of the QBs in the league right now but I think he realistically only has one more shot before it's time to call it a career. No one should go out like Bret Favre did.
Again, no matter what happens next week the goal for the Colts next year should be to invest in the offensive and defensive fronts. Colts are going to be scary good next year if they can maintain this level of play at their skill positions and upgrade their fronts.
THIS IS A LOT OF WORDS ABOUT SPRATS

So, after the Broncos "fans" booed their team in a single possession game with plenty of time left and the offense on the field, here's what I want:
Colts take a reasonable large lead in the first regular season game next year. Peyton Manning, having signed a single game contract with the Colts, unexpectedly runs out of the locker room and lines up at QB. Luck lines up as a WR or TE. Manning takes the snap, dances around for a while, as he's famous for, maybe pump fakes a few times, then suddenly turns and laterals the ball to Luck who has either stayed or cut back. Luck runs around the back like it's a delayed reverse and sells it as hard as he can, being known for his ability to run while also frightening the defense that he'll pass to that side. Right as he comes around to the other side, he stealthily hands the ball back to Manning and continues to sell the play. Defense all bites, and Manning hurls the ball 50 yards downfield to Reggie Wayne on the other side for a TD. Everybody's penalized for excessive celebration, and Manning gets on the PA to announce his retirement. Vinateri extra point is good, of course, and Pat McAfee proceeds to drill a touchback despite the 15yd penalty from the excessive celebration because he's that good.
Is that too much to ask?

That was the most entertaining football story I've read in years...maybe ever. Too bad it will never happen.

Welp, the evil teams won this weekend. I guess there is no justice in this fucked up world and the bad guys always win.

Full disclosure though that Seahawks comeback and utter meltdown of the Packers was a sight to behold.
Playing soft and not going for a touchdown on 4th and inches at the goal line not once but TWICE in a row? Check
Fake field goal? Check
The winning QB had 4 interceptions? Check
A successful onside kick? Check
A long ass field goal to take the game into overtime? Check
A man grabbing his dick? Check
Incredibly bullshit 2-point conversion? Check
A dominant performance that unraveled and shit itself away in the last 5 minutes of the game? Check
God is a Seahawks fan.
Colts game sucked and they got the curbstomping we all expected, draft D-linemen, maybe a WR to replace Reggie Wayne if there's a good player still on the board, and grab Ngata from the Ravens tia

I don't know if I'd say they "sucked". They certainly didn't look good, and the Patriots did. I bet that kind of performance from the Colts could have beat a .500 team in the regular season, but that won't fly in the playoffs, especially not in the championship vs. the Patriots who seem to have the Colts' number, anyway.
As with the regular season match-up, they had essentially no defense for Blount. He's a powerhouse and well matched for the lackluster D-line of the Colts, and the Patriots' O-line plays well, too.
Honestly, our passing game on both sides didn't look terrible given the conditions, especially later in the game in what was essentially "make something happen if you can" garbage time in the pouring rain. Our running game, well, it needs work. Hopefully we'll get some healthy RBs back next year. That and some concentration on the line in the draft and off-season trading could do wonders. If Reggie Wayne decides it's time to retire, we probably are going to have to find another WR, too.
I think it was well-known going in that the Colts were going to have to play at their absolute best AND the Patriots would have to have an off-day for the Colts to come out victorious. Obviously that didn't happen; we got the opposite. The Colts had a bad day, and the Patriots had a pretty good one. In the NFL, that alone is easily able to get you a score like what we ended up with, especially in the playoffs.

Welp, any predictions on this year's Superbowl?
The Patriots are going to win a low scoring game. Seahawks have a garbage offense and their defense can only do so much. Seattle needed a bunch of miracles to win against the Packers at home and I don't think they're going to be nearly as lucky this time.
Lines are currently:
Patriots -2
Over/Under 48.5
I'd take the under
Keep in mind that I said that the Broncos were going to crush Seattle last year and I could not have possibly been more wrong.

Can we make predictions about the part I actually care about? HALF TIME SHOW!
Katy Perry. Saw her on tour last year. It was a great show. Looking forward to her at half time. I intend to be watching.
BTW, who won the hunnit dollars?

The Lulz won the hunnit this year. I talked to him about it and he said I could keep the hunnit and he was just happy to play in a league and is glad that we can keep doing this year in and year out. I guess in a way a win for The Lulz was a win for me!
Katy Perry is going to come out lip synching and the show will be safe and free of controversy. The surprise guest will be Lady Gaga

Hmm. She definitely performed live when we saw her last year. I'd be a little disappointed if she didn't do so at the Super Bowl. But I can see that happening knowing how much the NFL likes to "stick to the script." I will bet $1 against the latter.
