omg you're so goth your wrists slit themselves!
I'm asuming you're being sarcastic, I hope.
Metal isn't goth. Actual 'goth' music is quite different. It's often times industrial, synthetic, or extremely mellow in nature. Not what you'd expect at all. I bought a goth music compilation years ago, expecting it to be angry and full of agressive music. It was extremely placid. Haunting, but very placid and calm.
Metal has it's own distinct fan base.
Also, shopping at hot topic and wearing bondage pants doesn't make one goth. Any true goth laugh at a concept like that. Goth is more about mindset than your every day wardrobe, and the clothes range anywhere from old victorian designs, to simple elegant things, all the way up to more sexual fetish like attire.
Bondage pants are more or less a raver, punk garment than part of a real gothic wardrobe.

You have to dig a little deeper than that man. Also, Hot Topic isn't really about Metal anymore. They sell the occasional T shirt, but now they're more into this alternative, punk and emo stuff. Which, to me...hell, sounds all the same, just like metal would sound all the same to you, or someone who may not listen to it on a regular basis.
EMO IS NOT HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS AND the Used. Original emo is Sunny Day Real Estate, Fugazi, Cursive, bands like that. Punk is dead kennedys, nofx, the clash, op ivy, etc. NOT friggin good char-pussy-lette.

Real emo is not gonna be found in a store like hot topic. Ramones and Sex Pistols might be found there because it's cool to wear merch from bands that kids never actually listened to when it wasn't cool to wear punk.

Hot topic kids who started to wear the "punk" fashion, punks dressed like that because they were poor. They did that so they didn't have to pay any of their low amounts of money to big companies and instead fixed things with safety pins and patches.

Wow, I kinda went off on a tangent there.

See, now you know how I feel.
When Jeff, or anyone else for that matter, starts blabbing on about metal and goth and OMG Slipknot thinks satan is cool, without giving any thought to the subject matter, it starts to piss me off.
But, apparently it's ok to say things like that about music I like. But when I say it about someone else's music, OMG injustice!!!!!!
Hopefully you see my point. I'm not bitching at you SDP, your post was just convenient for me to make my point with.

I don't like the music you guys listen to 90% of the time, but I don't try to put down everything you enjoy and stand for every chance I get. (and if I DO say anything, it's usually a joke. Generally about the girl pants, but you know I'm joking.) I would at the very least like the same in return.
