Batista must have had some dank from Krypton or something because that shit was able to render two grown men useless with just one joint.

Ya. The locust scene was a bit of an eye roller.

Will Deb have relations with the new hire?

Did the intern really just want the money? Why did she ask about the other Dexter related cases? Why do people think she's attractive?

To what end are these murders occurring?

What does an appendix do?

Yeah I'm pretty on the fence with this episode. Some people really liked it but I don't know what to think.

Image

Olmos is definitely 100% either a figment of Hanks' imagination or some multiple personality manifestation of Hanks. No one other than Hanks has ever spoken to him directly and if you notice that when he and Hanks are at the restaurant he doesn't have any silverware or shit in front of him and the waitress doesn't even address him. Holy shit was that waitress easy to get into the sack though. I wish I could be a creepy mugfug, go on a date, and hit shit that easily.

Anyway, the whole "Olmos disappeared three years ago" thing pretty much confirms it. It seems like the writers want us to think Olmos is a ghost dad at this point because they are really hammering it in without outright saying it. I'd chuckle if they want us to think that way and then pull a 180 to show that he's actually a real guy living somewhere off the grid and that the version we see of him with Hanks is what Hanks "believes" the real Olmos to be like. I don't know, it's plausible, it would go with the whole "belief" motif that faith can be used for good and evil.

The new detective isn't as sassy as I'd like to be. He's all the hardass of Doakes but he doesn't have that fast-jive-talking appeal. I suppose they want to keep him unique and not a true Doakes 2.0. I'm glad we have an actual serious cop on the show though who can open up some "suspicious of Dexter" plot points.

The whole Hot Intern thing was just pure blue balls. She has name dropped Trinity, ITK, and the Bay Harbor Butcher but it turns out she's just using the evidence from those cases to turn a dime? Fuck that is a waste. My eyes got a little wide when she started talking about BHB and Trinity but holy shit did I let out a sigh of disappointment when we found out she's just strapped for cash. That little loose end was left unresolved though when Masuka told her to leave so we'll see what comes of it. There might be some potential for something awesome to happen with Hot Intern but I won't get my hopes up.

Batista is becoming likable again so that's good. He's clearly separated himself from LaGuerta and now he's working the Wesley Pipes if you get my drift. I'm sure the whole ganja thing is just a one-off but I can see a Quinn/Batista marijuana super-cop sitcom complete with laugh track as a potential Dexter spin-off after Dexter inevitably gets executed.

I wonder if this is going to be the last season for Ghost Dad? The whole "Mos Def's dad was kind of a dick" thing and the shit that's going on with Olmos sort of alludes that Ghost Dad is Dexter's "higher power" that he'll dispose of after he realizes he doesn't need him anymore. They've gone the whole "fuck Ghost Dad and the code" route before but they might make it official this time. I'm still convinced that Mos Def is going to be written out before the end of the season and there's more to him than meets the eye.

Anyway, I'm hoping next week we see Dexter find out about Hanks and we get some interaction between them. This week's episode sort of ended on a cliffhanger (if you notice Olmos wasn't present in the final scene which was from Dexter's point of view) and Dexter got his first look at Hanks. It sounds like they're going to start investigating Olmos next week which should be par for the course considering we're about halfway through the season. Hooray.

Probably not, but this show has gone that route before. I think Deb is turning into more of a professional but hey, once you go black you don't go back and I'm sure that musician guy in Season 3 that she banged slang a huge cane.

I hope not! The show is much more interesting when someone is investigating Dexter's misdeeds. Bro, are you telling me if Hot Intern was all like "Oooooo silky silky I wants to suck youse dick off" that you would give her the snap back? That is the true test IMO. If you completely deny dat dick then there is nothing redeemable about the lady. My point is that she's not unattractive, you can't have it both ways, and that there is no middle ground. There are degrees of attractive/unattractiveness but this is a binary decision and she definitely doesn't turn off the transistor.

The murders are all occurring to bring about some crazy dude's idea of the apocalypse or the rapture or whatever. Obviously none of that shit is actually going to happen and the writers are using Hanks as a medium to talk about the pros and cons of faith and how Dexter can apply it to his life.

An appendix helps digest raw meat or some shit.

I like that an ancient relic sword was the only thing mankind has ever made using iron.

"The wound has iron residue on it..."
"Are you saying he used some sort of artifact sword as the murder weapon?"
"Yes."

When Olmos had his hand on the tied up woman, I don't believe she even so much as looked his way.

Maybe intern will break in and try to steal more high profile case stuff?

I'm disappointed they dropped the whole thing with Dexter's kill box. Blah.

"I'm Deb, and I'm fucking here to cut the crap and catch mother fuckers. No bullshit." These cops run their program like an after-school club at Miami High.

I just checked Brea Grant's (Hot Intern) Wikipedia page and she's listed as being in 7 episodes of Dexter. She's not done on the show, but she's definitely getting written out at some point. Maybe she'll get killed by Dexter? Maybe she'll get killed by Hanks? Episode 7 is titled "Nebraska" so maybe she'll move to Nebraska and play roller derby?
