Also, you might want to consider posting this in the Trading Post subforum (or PMing MonMotha, if you do think he's the only [other?] one that's interested) - while it certainly qualifies as a random thought (as do all thoughts), I don't know what the chances are that MM is still reading this thread.

I pretty much own an entire lab setup: Scope, multiple signal generators, frequency counter, a couple bench supplies (different in various ways), multimeter, temp controlled soldering iron, etc. When you do the crazy stuff I do, those things come in handy.

I have no real need for a cheap scope, unless it's got digital storage: then I'm interested. However, that link doesn't work for me.

It works for me; you probably got unlucky with an intermediate router somewhere.

But you wouldn't want to deprive a wannabe tinkerer of a cheap 'scope, would you?

well I got the DiZi that I was importing (chinese traverse flute) in today... didn't realize all the instructions to attach the membrane was in chinese....

Wikipedia says that you should use garlic glue around the edge and pull it taut such that wrinkles remain in the center of the membrane. If you get desperate and try that technique, let me know how it goes so I can update the Wikipedia/world scoreboard accordingly.

(Note that I disavow all responsibility should you actually follow that advice: the closest I've ever come to this is the recorder, which involves no such challenge.)

i got a decent setup as well...i have a o-scope (pretty basic...i'd get that one but i don't have the funds to ship it or buy the parts), nice soldering iron, desoldering parts/smt kit, fluke meter, tone generator, signal generator and other goodies...i worked at an ovation and i was laid off when it went out of business..they had no log of service parts so the old service tech said i could take whatever i wanted
