WOW another great day for me today...

AAA You Really Got Me 7k (#25)
AAA Virtual Insanity L7 (#26)
AAA I Was The One L7 (#27)
AAA Celebration 7k (#28...I'm really proud of this one!)
AAA g.m.d. [a] (#29...first another AAA!)
12 from AAA on Lift Me Up 7k

So, yeah, I got my first 4* AAA for my 25th, and then proceeded to get 2 more 4* AAAs!

You're getting really good, Dan. You're getting close to catching up to my AAA count. I've been playing almost exclusively doubles (L14) lately, and I haven't gotten any AAAs that way. I might have to play switch back to L7/7 to add a few more. ;)

Do you still just have Beatmania US, or have you gotten any of the JP releases now?

Nope, I'm still exclusively US, so I betcha I would have a higher AAA count if I had all the Jap releases like you ;). But, you are beating me by quite a lot overall. However, I officially switched my VJArmy "rival" from Arka to you today, I feel like it gives me something to aim for. Lol I hope I can get a few more AAAs today, only 3 more and I got you.

AAA's are really easy to get on the US version, and pretty tough to get on JP. Pretty much an A on JP = AAA on US.

Yeah, I can get a shload of AAA's on US, but not on the J-mixes.

100% - 88.89% is a AAA on the the J mixes. I'm not sure what ex score percent you need on US.

VJ corrects score entries to Japan scoring.

And I haven't noticed a huge difference in timing.

Generally, everything's approximately a grade higher in the US version. But I'm not counting BMUS AAAs, I'm counting real AAAs that just happened to be got in BMUS. Hell, if we were counting BMUS AAAs, I'd have well over 100, easy. Well, Ho, I played a few more rounds, and got up from 5 AAAs today to a record-breaking (for me) 10 AAAs in one day! Here are the other ones:

AAA g.m.d. 7k (#30...sight-read!)
AAA First Day 5k (#31)
AAA Lift Me Up 5k (#32)
AAA Virtual Insanity 5k (#33...sight-read!)
AAA Celebration 5k (#34)

And I also forgot to mention that the AAA on Virtual Insanity L7 from earlier was also a sight-read. And, wow, Ho, I just noticed this when I DJ Battled you and me just now; although you have quite a margin on me in songs won (32 to 14), I'm actually quite close to you in actual EX score (you're only leading me by 77!). Watch out, Brian Ho, I'm coming.

Apparently the timing is the same, right down to the sync still being wrong on some of the older songs (and some corrected, as well) between the US and JP versions. This is why VJ Army allows BMUS scores and just recalculates your letter grade based on EX score.

BMUS grades based on money score, rather than any sort of EX system. I do not know what the thresholds are for the letter grades, though. As far as I can tell, BMUS doesn't have any concept of EX points.

No, they have some concept of it, as when you play the "Expert" courses it keeps your score in EX score...however, in normal play, they don't use it for anything at all. From what I've noticed, basically somewhere around 152,000 and up is AA, somewhere around 170,000 and up is AAA...whereas, by EX score, I don't think I've ever gotten a AAA below 188,000 money score.

Wow, dude! That's great!

Well, you've passed me on AAAs now. I came within 2 EX of my first L14 AAA last night. I guess I'd better go downstairs and try to at least tie you before I go to work! ;)

EDIT: It was not meant to be. I brought a couple scores up to the AAA line, but I just couldn't seem to get over the hump. And then, I ran out of time.

Oh well, revel in your AAA supremacy, Dan. I'll come for you later! *shakes fist*

Well, I didn't have much time to play today because I played tennis after school and then had to go to the SAC awards banquet, but I managed to get one AAA in:

AAA Do You Love Me? 5k (#35)

I should have some more time to play tomorrow, and I'm anticipating quite a few new ones (I Was The One Hyper, MGS2 Main Theme 5k, The Shining Polaris L7, plus a bunch of 5k stuff...).

I'm seriously starting to think about importing some games.

Same here! The only problem with that for me is money... so i must wait
:(

I also really want a second beatmania controller to play 14k, cause it looks like lots of fun! ^_^ (speaking of which, where could i find such a thing for a good price?)

i would say to get a 2nd US controller, assuming you have a US controller already. cuz the JKOCs and the USKOCs are different enough that trying to use one of each for 14K would mess up your timing really bad. trust me. i tried.

and you and dance1005 really should import some games because the JP versions will increase your skill a lot quicker. especially the newer styles.

Do it!

This morning's "Breakfast with Beatmania" worked out a lot better than yesterday. Four new AAAs to catch back up with Dan. :)

#33 The Way You Move 5-key
#34 Celebration 5-key
#35 Bad Boy Bass! Normal
#36 Paranoia Max Normal

I got two more really close (one was just 3 EX shy, the other 9 EX), but I guess I had topped out for the morning.

I don't really plan on playing again this week, so you just need two more to overtake me again, Dan. I've gotta focus on DDR-A-Thon stuff tonight and tomorrow, then I'll be at the event the next two days after that. I'll probably play IIDX at Jim's party on Wednesday, but I doubt I'll record any scores...unless some kind of miracle occurs.
