The Gimp is a freeware photo-editing program very similar to Photoshop, just not as powerful.

Here it is in action on my computer. (Yes, it's for Windows, too.)

The only problem you're likely to run into with the GIMP is that its default settings as far as windows go isn't very good in MS windows. It likes to create lots of separate windows (rather than you Photoshop fans' favorite of MDI, which I personally dislike). If you're running a decent window manager on X (like FVWM), especially with virtual desktops (and you can do that on Windows even; I hear Microsoft is going to "invent" that for Longhorn), things tend to work nicer.

Fortunately for you, they recently made it so that you can dock menus and windows together, though a true MDI interface is not available. MDI just isn't very common on X/UNIX systems, which was GIMP's original target: neither OSX nor Windows is the "native" OS of the GIMP; it was originally developed using its own new toolkit (GTK) on Linux and the BSDs.

If you're a true Photoshop whore, you'll probably hate the GIMP simply because it's not Photoshop. The menus are different and some of the options behave a bit differently. While it's not quite as "powerful" as Photoshop, most people don't actually need Photoshop, and it's easily as "powerful" as something like Paint Shop Pro.

The Gimp is a large, burrly man who was kept in a footlocker by this storekeeper and a police officer. And they only brought him out to feed him, or when they needed intense mansechs.

The gimp was later killed because he litteraly fucked with the wrong man: BRUCE WILLIS!

Later, the storekeeper and the police officer were both Katana'd by Mr. Willis.

Mr. Bruce Willis' Favorite Toy: The Katana!

Mr. Willis' favorite food at Walt Disney World: Turkey Leg + Budwiser.

Well ,as i am starting to learn, with the magic of script-fu, Gimp can be far more powerful tahn photoshop in some cases.

I favorite toy is my Spin-o-bolo. It's kinda like a yoyo, except that it's really big... and not attached to the string... and you look like a dork playing with it.

Oh, and Grubb... Zedd didn't get sliced and diced by Butch. He caught a shotgun to the nards and then was "went over" by some "hardass, pipe-hitting niggers" with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch.
