I tried one out today for a while and I really liked it. The screen was really nice, and after some getting used to, the browser worked great. Heck even the keypad wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I did find entering long messages to be a pain though. I'm used to typing with my Sidekick, and I can type pretty fast, and the iPhone couldn't keep up sometimes. Seriously though once you get used to it typing is a breeze.
Another thing I couldn't get over was the plan prices. The cheapest one was 60 a month, and if you wanted unliminted texting, that would be another 20. So pretty much I would be paying an extra 25 bucks a month campared to my plan to be able to watch YouTube whenever. Ehh, not worth it.

I was under the assumption that the iPhone had brodband. The youtube videos I watched loaded up pretty fast, and so did the few webpages I visited. Even if its not broadband its still pretty fast.Potter wrote:rofl for that much a month you could just get an uncapped EVDO service and card in conjunction with a laptop and have unlimited broadband internet everywhere
And if I did go your way, how would somebody call me? Or what if I wanted to send an email? You mean I gotta lug around my laptop everywhere I go? Pshhhhhhhh
Not everywhere, silly pants.Potter wrote:rofl for that much a month you could just get an uncapped EVDO service and card in conjunction with a laptop and have unlimited broadband internet everywhere
The fact that it's not available literally everywhere is the only thing keeping me from doing just that, though. It's a sweet deal.

Now I've never used Skype, but does skype give you a phone number that someone from a landline can call you back on? I thought you just got some random 0001234567 number, bit then again what do I know?Potter wrote:im not positive on this but i think an evdo account gets you phone access to the network also.
or JUST USE SKYPE LUL
And I thought that it cost money to use skype to call an actual phone.
I'm not saying that the iPhone is the best choice, but in my opinion substuiting a laptop for a phone is a huge hassle. But then again what do I know? Oh and a laptop can't text message. That could be a deal breaker.
i know, I wasn't being very serious. carrying around a laptop in place of a cellphone wouldn't work too well
but actually, you can text message phones from AIM. add the phone number to your buddylist. I guess they really havent made a big official announcement about it, but I found out you could do it about a month ago.
just enter them so they look like so

and of course, text message phones all you want from aim, they don't charge obviously
