Not so great of a storyline, but it was quality entertainment whether potter will admit it or not.

because entertainment is fully objective and whatever entertains you is sure to catch everyone else's fancy.

Okay, keep watching only those movies that have an incredibly complex plot, sure they're great movies, but like everything else... they're great in moderation.

Hell, my favorite movie of all time is Fight Club, and if you think that movie's plot is simple.... you, my friend, are strongly mistaken.

That movie was Hollywood's shameful attempt to buy into an artsy medium with the help of a few muscled hotties and half-witty one liners. I rank this turd in the same pile of feces as Donnie(y) Darko.

300 made no attempt to open eyes or otherwise inspire any excessive amount of thought because, unlike Fight Club, it knew it had limitations. 300 was intended to be bad ass, and it fell nothing short of its mark. Sure it only plays to basic emotion, but damn did it do well.

But the truth of the matter is that, like most Emo culture does, it is trendy to hate on anything with a high budget that people enjoy.

I mean honestly, when did cinema change to where a movie would only get 4 stars when it had a convoluted plot?

Hello contradiction!

Fight club kicked ass. It could have been my mother and Joe Dirt as the actors, it still kicked ass.

I think Fight Club has a lot of complicated things being weaved together and it seems very shallow if you don't pick up on a lot of the things going on. Plus I think people hate it because they of what they think it is rather than giving it the time to understand it all fully =P

Any list that doesn't have Monty Python and the Holy Grail in the top 10 is ridiculously mistaken.

There's an old Romanian proverb, "Gusturile nu se discuta," or "Gustibus no disputando" in Latin, IIRC.
