LOL! Really?Merk wrote:You know that one fighting style, Craw McGraw? It's talked about in that one Always Sunny In Philadelphia episode "Dee and Charlie Find Love"
Today I learned it's actually spelled/pronounced as "Krav Maga" and that it's a real thing from Isreal. I literally thought my whole life that it was spelled Craw McGraw and that it was named after a dude.

I'll probably get no response from anybody on this, but I'd like to get some feedback on what people think about the ViewSonic VP2780-4K monitor on here.

Here's a response: I think it's a monitor.Amp Divorax wrote:I'll probably get no response from anybody on this, but I'd like to get some feedback on what people think about the ViewSonic VP2780-4K monitor on here.
Re: [Grubb's] Random Thoughts of the Day
I don't know toooooo much about 4K monitors (maybe Potter would be a good source here) but, uhhh, it looks pretty good! More expensive than similar-spec looking ones, but 4k at 60hz is good. Make sure you have a good ass graphics card if you're going to push games at 4K (assuming you're playing stuff with good graphics). Looks like it has good color accuracy. I would say as long as you have the rig to power high end 4K stuff and the desire to watch stuff/play stuff at 4K, it looks like a good choice. Probably a relatively good future-proof (is there such a thing?) monitor for the next few years depending on your immediate needs. I'm sure 4K is at the edge of coming down on a big price cut within the next year or two as it gets more popular.

Re: [Grubb's] Random Thoughts of the Day
LOL at Ho's response and I appreciate the feedback. I broke down and got two of them as my original 1440p monitor order went badly and as good 1440p monitors were already at a similar price-point. I don't actively watch TV anymore and most 4K TVs have felt underwhelming so this solution is the best of all worlds. After work I can probably break down the good and bad on these things as I ran various PC games at 4K and for Dariusburst I ran dual monitor mode (Riot nailed it on the head that a good videocard is needed. Fortunately, my Geforce 970 GTX is more than up for it.) and these monitors aren't perfect, but they are light years ahead of any monitor I have seen in a brick and mortar store.

I'm glad you appreciated my smart-assery.
I think the last monitor I bought was this:
http://www.cnet.com/products/samsung-syncmaster-950b/#!
So, I have virtually no opinion on anything that would be considered even remotely modern.
I have slightly more up-to-date info on televisions, but my newest (serious) one is already like 5 years old, so that data is probably pretty well worthless, too.

TVs haven't changed much aside from people going "OMFG 4K", HDMI 2.0 being used, and the addition of "Smart" components to allow for streaming services so you aren't missing out on much currently.Ho wrote:I'm glad you appreciated my smart-assery.

So yea, the good and bad on this:
- Amazing picture quality
- The input lag and response time together is less than one frame so this is more than ready for games that need quick reaction time.
- Built in two port usb 3.0 hub. (Unexpected bonus)
- DisplayPort 1.2 works great and allows for 10 bits per color (1.07 billion colors instead of the standard 16.7 million colors that 8 bits per color allows for.)
- IPS Panel is a HUGE jump for me as prior to this I was using a TN Panel.
The bad:
- Despite ViewSonic having a great warranty and a long lifespan, the price still is considerable.
- I am not really a fan of the stands that come with these monitors so I will most likely get a dual monitor stand in the future.
- Not a complaint against the monitor, but my PC only has one DisplayPort 1.2 output so I'm using HDMI 2.0 on my other monitor for the time being. (Waiting until Nvidia's Pascal to get a different videocard.)
