I am going to bite on this troll bait because there is nothing else to talk about on here during the weekends.
1) Not true. Believe it or not I actually used to play the drums. I was never particularly great at them but a videogame where you play on an actual electronic drumset is perfect for someone like me who enjoys drumming, videogames and who wants to get better at drumming.Merk really likes Drummania and IIDX because they have Anime movies and characters.
Merk is going to one of the nation's biggest Anime cons in just a few weeks.
Merk really likes fighting game animations and regularly mimics them in real life. (See below)
Merk has seen and reported enjoying Cowboy Bebop.
Merk is more vocal about hating anime than anyone else I know.
1a) I like BEET because it's a challenge and arguably the most difficult music game out there. I haven't played with movies on since Red which was the first mix where you had the option to put your little score graph next to the note lanes.
2) I would not be going if the only J-Core concert that ever happens in the US was not happening there. If there was a way to go to the concert and not have to go to ACEN I would do it in a heartbeat. Much like last year, I am going to do my best to not see a single frame of anime.
3) Third Strike was a pretty game and Makoto's SA1 had a very over the top animation. Foot diving is fun as fuck so I don't see a problem there.
4) It is the sole exception. I don't hold the show to some high-esteem and talk about how it's better than Shakespeare like anime fans do but I would say the show is watchable. It definitely has the eye-rollingly bad tropes that all anime has but I liked all the little vignettes that were in the show. Spike and Jet had good characterization at least and their motivations were consistent and made sense with their backstories and personalities, everyone else was pretty annoying though. I'd say it is B-Tier.
5) I love to hate things and talk about how much I love hating them. Anime fans are so horrible and so ubiquitous on the internet that it makes them the lowest hanging fruit out there. I mean, I love escapism as much as the next guy but anime and anime fans take it to an extreme and are so self-congratulatory that it makes them laughable. I feel the exact same way about furries but that line of discussion has been beaten like a dead fur-horse. No one on here is going to support furries (OR WOULD THEY?!?!?!?) and everyone out there can agree that they are all around terrible.
I don't agree with this. People hate on anime because of all the shit that they see in person and read about on http://www.theanimereality.com. If this person is seriously using this argument then very fucking Republican is a Democrat, every Palestinian is secretly Jewish, and every Alabama fan wants to chill with his Auburn compatriots. There are many, many examples of people who hate on something because of what it is, not because they are in some sort of denial.The hater has clear evidence that he is a member of the hated group but is in denial. He refuses to identify with said group and often comes up with convoluted explanations as to why he isn't actually a member.
