The bed and breakfast we stayed at in Canada had this on the stand by the bed. I skimmed for the steamy parts and it was basically just brief porny descriptions and the main character kept calling her giner her "sex." The only reason it's so popular pretty much is because someone with some media cred probably recommended it, it got spread into the unfulfilled housewife book club markets, and then it was kind of taboo for women who don't typically read that stuff but wanted to discuss it with their friends.
