Doom isn't *bad* there are just, as you said, other characters that are better. Your overall goal should be to support your strongest character who should probably also be your point. Magneto needs a strong way to get in with his triangle jump and agood DISRUPTAH partner for chipping out and playing keep away. Doom works pretty well, he's just an awful anchor. If you have mags and sentinel already on the team, you probably don't need a similar but less effective backup assist in the form of doom. You could have a Wesker who can dhc glitch off magneto or extend his combos and is one of the best level 3 xfactor users since he does massive damage, can cancel into relaunch or level 3 hyper, and teleport super fast. Or build meter for Phoenix.

Yeah jwong uses She Hulk, Wolverine, and Tron to pretty good effect. She may not be great without assists, but she builds a ton of meter and has strong combos and lockdown.

some really good matches, including Clockwork's Doom. I still maintain he is way too slow and ineffective for most people though. Clockwork would probably even do better if he dropped Phoenix and stopped dropping combos.

Riot, seriously. When I'm rolling Mag/Sent/Doom, Doom is what keeps me going. I kill more of your shit with Doom than I do Sentinel.
Foot dive into high/low mixup with a sneaky cross-up is all you need. Walk speed doesn't matter. Hell, speed of normals barely matters in this game.
Haven't watched the video FYI, I'm woorrrrkin'

Yeah but I could just counter hyper all of your foot dives because you do them from full screen away. Unless you have them locked down with an assist like Clockwork's Ammy or something, it's super easy to read. He's not a good anchor. I heavily disagree about movement speed and normal speed too! That's why Magneto is good, his little jab outpriotizes stuff. Besides, it wasn't Doom that kept you going, it was level 3 x-factor, which makes every character good. I would say Doom contributed more to you losing all of those times to me instead of the wins.

Just because I am bad with a character (which I am) doesn't mean the character is bad (which Doom is not). The same can be said for every tip-top tier character in every game that I am not good with (which is every game).
(which sandwich)
Also lolololool you won all those games because of Phoenix. I'd wager that a third of our games came down to Doom or my entire team against XF3 Dark Phoenix. I'll bet a dollar that I'll get to 10 wins if you played Wesker/Task/Akuma or whatever much much faster than your Phoenix team. I could probably do it in 60 matches or less.
You faggot.

Merk I was taking it easy on you because you were crying! I stopped trying to do air throw resets halfway through so you didn't punch me. I'm better with Wesker/Task/Akuma anyways since I don't know how to play Phoenix and Akuma's tatsu assist is much better for my other characters. I never play Phoenix so I was trying to get Dark Phoenix in so I can learn her and practice.
Doom is okay but I just don't think he's as good as many other characters and the placement you use him in isn't very effective for you IMO.

Riot I would never hit you or anybody. Violence doesn't solve any issues, it would just make me more mad because I would be mad at myself.
I want to find the quote where you said you were humble but I don't think it's in this thread and I don't want to sift through the SF4 thread. "Merk I was taking it easy on you because you were crying!" is not humble.
You don't need to be good with DP to win. Throw fireball -> teleport -> kill -> set traps for incoming character -> if character doesn't die from chip then repeat process until you win. You don't even need to be fucking near a character to win; it's 100% risk free. This is why DP has like 9:1 with pretty much the entire cast.

I'm sorry I hurt your feelings let's play DDR again and talk about how awesome EVO is going to be and how uncomfortable it will be when I make you drink and gamble and eat at buffets.

Kinda confirms what I was saying.
"Execution has been a huge factor in all the major MVC3 tournaments. It has for the most part dictated character selection and has also dictated character wins. A character who is easy to play, does big damage, has nice hit boxes and decent mix ups is a character who has placed in a tournament. "
"The facts displayed by the majors yell out one very obvious detail about the game's meta: Rushdown is king and mix ups dictate the pace of a match. As stated in the fact sheet, the majors are dominated by Point characters like She Hulk, Wolverine and Wesker who are great at rushing down and even better at mix ups."
"Even on a Phoenix team, mix ups and rushdown dominate. A Phoenix team which is more about mix ups/rushdown has been more successful (2 won) with Wesker/Wolverine than a Phoenix team that is more about zoning (Taskmaster or Dormmamu on a Phoenix team has placed no better than Runner Up)."
I think that easy combos that you will hit 100% of the time and mix-up mindgames are the most important part of the game. A lot of the rushdown is fast characters with an immediate ambiguous crossup, which is why I value speed. Also, this is why I keep harping on your Doom. He's not a good anchor because the first two characters, as proven by this little write-up and echoed by me, should be your strongest characters. They should be building meter for your anchor, who, with level 3 x-factor, should be able to unload all the meter gained by your faster, nimbler point characters and chip out wounded opponents or be able to kill any character in one combo opening. Doom's hypers are finicky and have terrible damage, except for the one that shoots upwards, and all of them require the opponent to be opened up in a combo string in the first place to really be effective (at which point ANY character with x-factor can one hit kill in a simple launcher combo). Doom needs a pressure assist to create the dive kick high-low mixups like Clock does with Ammy, and by himself he is not fast enough or tricky enough to really perform, and his hypers aren't going to cut it either.
If anything Doom would make a better point character with Sentinel's drones. Magneto is a faster and scarier level 3 x-factor user, and like I said, ANY character is going to one hit kill in X-factor. Again, Magneto needs a good assist to help him, but he is a LOT faster and trickier than Doom with X-factor and can play a LOT more mindgames, be much more punishing with a reaction gravity squeeze or full screen keep away with a faster beam.
Edit: Also Doom requires crazy timing and long extended combos that risk dropping, which again, is counter-intuitive to the proven top tier. Maybe if you were Clockwork and had the appropriate assist capabilities with him, but alas you are Merkwork.
The follow-up post is very interesting too:
