I cashed in $95 worth of change over the weekend that I had been accumulating for maybe 6-9 months. I'm putting a date on my jar this time so I actually know how long I've collected it.

I don't think I've ever had more than $10 in change laying around ever in my life. Where are you people going where you're paying with cash and they don't charge in whole dollar amounts? How can you build up $95 in change?!?!

The only place change has in my life is parking meters and homeless people.

I like using cash. I think it's a holdover from my trips to Japan. It also serves as sort of an automatic savings for me since I put whatever change I have in my pocket into a jar at the end of each day. I take it to the Coinstar after a few months, get an Amazon gift card, and get myself a little treat. :)

I have them.

I use them for larger and Internet purchases, but I prefer to spend cash on a daily basis. I think it's also psychologically easier for me to budget this way as I can visually see the money going away as I spend it. I can put a set amount in my wallet and see what's left as I go along.

I'll try to use cash at smaller businesses since they have to eat the charge otherwise. Mega corps can holla at that Visa.

I'll also bend over to pick up a nickel or greater because it's free money. There's probably a Jewish joke to be made.

Guys, you need to be earning cash back on all purchases as much as possible. I think I earned something like $425 in cash back after membership fees over the last 12 months between my Chase Freedom and AMex Blue Cash Preferred cards.

Think of all the bullshit you can buy with $425! That's like the cost of a U-Haul to move my arcade games out of Chad's house! Or the cost of a round-trip plane ticket to most places in the contiguous 48 states! And all I did to get this money was live my life and buy the shit that I normally get.

I thought of another instance where I prefer cash and that's at a bar. Opening a tab is a pain in the ass, and good luck flagging down a bartender to close out when other people are waving 20s around to get their next rum and coke.

Merk, wouldn't you rather allow your local restaurant's merchant fees to be saved than earn 14 cents on a 7 dollar burger?

I'm gonna sound like a monster here but, nope, I'd rather have that $0.14. They could always just not accept credit cards like Great-X-Scape did for most of its existence.

Besides, how much are merchants really getting effed? 5%?

Gonna agree on the bar thing although I can't remember the last time I was at a bar and not getting served by a server.

Typical interchange on Visa/MC is 2.5-3%. Novus/Discover is a little higher. AmEx is a lot higher (4-5%).
A normality test:
+++ATH
If you are no longer connected to the internet, you need to apply more wax to your modem: it'll make it go faster.
If you find this funny, you're a nerd.
If neither of the above apply, you are normal. Congratulations.

I'm glad that the internet has defined and termed the idea of going so far into a troll that you become that which you are trolling.

Sort of like Godwin's law.

Neat little site. There's value in knowing whether or not I can reasonably dedicate time to play a game.
