Tappers Arcade Bar
Will Indy finally get a barcade?

Sounds pretty awesome. Free-play classics, pinball, and beers! My kind of place for sure.
Shoutout to Merk for the tip.

I'd love to scrounge up enough money to reach the $1,000 goal and have a private IndyDDR party!
Look guys! It's the Bemani Bordello or Da Butt Hut except there is no Bemani!

Re: Tappers Arcade Bar
After leaving a post about my concerns with crowdfunding, those behind this idea have stated an interest in having more conventional investors as addition to the traditional crowdfunding route. I know that we aren't exactly rolling in the dough, but it would be equally funny and awesome if we could pull off something like that.

I am amused at your use of the phrase "traditional crowd funding." Is it that passe already?

Re: Tappers Arcade Bar
Do we want to take bets on if they actually reach their goal of $30k?
I'm going to say that they won't reach it. They had their initial burst of donors when it was first announced but now donations have petered out and they're sitting at a little under $10k right now.

I don't think they will either. Sure there are people like me that haven't donated yet, but I don't think they'll hit the 30k mark. There has been a fair amount of grumbling around the whole donating vs. investing argument, and it's a valid criticism. There's a lot of discussion on Reddit about this, including the owners and their background. I reached out to them regarding a more traditional investment, but they never got back to me. Ah well.Merk wrote:Do we want to take bets on if they actually reach their goal of $30k?

That said, $20,000 isn't that much if they manage to attract a single wealthy donor, so there's always hope! I wonder what happens if they don't meet their goal. Obviously they won't get any money from the fundraising campaign, but will they try again with more investors and a lower goal? Will they give 20k to a friend and have them shill donate? Is that even allowed?

Man.... Should I throw $150 their way for the pint glass? I will never recoup the cost of saving a dollar on drinks since I don't think I've bought 150 drinks at a bar throughout all 8 years of my drinking life.

Not looking good for these guys. Think they'll break 25k?

Man, I don't know, I have a feeling they are going to shill donate so that all the shit that has been given to them thus far doesn't get returned to the donators.

Possibly. I doubt they'd want to go through the hassle of doing it all again. Care to... wager?Merk wrote:Man, I don't know, I have a feeling they are going to shill donate so that all the shit that has been given to them thus far doesn't get returned to the donators.

I don't know, I think it will be really hard to determine if they shill donate, you know?

Re: Tappers Arcade Bar
Shill aside, do you think they break 30k?
Re: Tappers Arcade Bar
I don't know much about IndieGoGo, but don't these crowdfunding services take a cut from the money that is donated? Wouldn't this make a shill donation disadvantageous? I mean, if you used already secured money to make a shill donation, wouldn't you effectively be losing some of that money to the crowdfunding service?
