I got up to 200 lbs at the beginning of the year, but my body started feeling crappy and my heart started to complain. I'm now down to 187 and working myself down to 160.

God damn, I am fat as fuck. Someone tell me that I need to force myself to play DDR everyday when I get home because I probably haven't played in a month and I am fat as fuck.

I'm back from Florida. Shall we restart our little contest?

Of course you've still got lots of songs to make up the last time I checked...

Yeah, allow me to catch up. I'm going to play some Supernova tonight (for real this time) so I'll knock out the songs that I can.

In honor of this thread title I had a piece of toast with some sweet potato butter on it that I purchased from Harry & David.

It was actually pretty fucking good! I also had a banana and a cup of coffee to go along with it.

Sweet potatoes are my bread and butter

because bread and butter aren't paleo.

I'm starting this thread back up again.

I'm tired of being a softbody, I recently turned 30 and I've ballooned back to about 245lbs which sucks considering that in 2011/2012 I was just under 200. My diet in that time went to shit because I'd go out to lunch to be with my co-workers and have the entire social experience of eating. I'd waste money and eat like shit but I'd crack jokes with my co-workers and establish my place in the office. I've worked at my job for almost four years now, I bought a house, I make a good living, and I don't have a constant fear that today I will get fired like I did in the past. Life is going great expect...

I am probably the heaviest I have ever been.

I don't think I look my fattest, this is from 2010:

Image

But it's still pretty bad, from early 2015:

And this needs to change. There are still many things in life that I want to experience but I feel like I'm limited because of my morbid obesity. 2016 is going to be the year I get back under 200lbs and to do that, here is my plan:

* Go back to eating super clean. I'm going to be super strict about my diet and count calories. No more eating out, no more booze, no more junk. I'll go and hang out with people because eating is a social experience and I love doing it, but I won't give in to temptation and order bad for you shitty ass food. Try to keep my daily intake to around 1700 calories

* Use the walking desk at work every day as much as possible. I've been using the desk a bunch this week and I actually enjoy it. My heart rate doesn't really go up but I'm sure it's a shit load better for me than just sitting at my desk.

* Play DDR throughout the week and play HARD SHIT. No one is impressed by AAAs anymore so there's no point in playing Spin The Disc 30+ times and getting that AAA. It's time to buck up and start doing the hard stuff I would avoid.

* Weigh myself everyday but put more emphasis on the Sunday weigh-in. I understand that weight fluctuates all the time but I want to make it a daily habit and track my weekly trend. I've always avoided weighing myself because it makes it easier to avoid my weight problem but I need to face facts. I'm getting a Fitbit Aria to help with this.

* Lift and make a lifting schedule. I have two 25lb dumbbells at home that I've been doing curls and tricep extensions on but I need to do more. I need more weight and more exercises to do and put them on a schedule. Leg day, arm day, back day, etc. Does anyone have a schedule that they use?

* Make exercise a social activity. I want to get in some sort of weekly thing like racquetball or walking/jogging with Chad. Walking Wednesdays! Rain or shine!

* Update this thread weekly with my progress. If I hold myself accountable and allow people to encourage or shame me it will create positive reinforcement.

It's good to hear that you are making that first step. I actually had to make a similar decision as in April I hit 173 lbs. (Effectively the heaviest I've been since 2002 and at my height that is obese so I can understand.) I'm down 20 lbs currently and I have 13 more that I wish to lose. I have used the fitbit aria which has helped quite a bit, just do be warned that they sometimes do tend to crap out. (Thankfully fitbit is good about replacing them.) The most important thing to keep in mind is that if you don't make your daily goal, don't let it get you down as this is a longterm goal that takes time to reach.

I bought these for my house to solve my lack of lifting resistance issue:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B15 ... ailpages00

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RN ... ailpages00

They should hopefully arrive this next week so I can start on a lifting regimen. I think I'm going to start out with three days a week (Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday) doing this:

Week 1: A B A
Week 2: B A B
Week 3: A B A
etc...

Workout A
Squat 3 x 5
Bench Press 3 x 5
Deadlift 1 x 5

Workout B
Squat 3 x 5
Overhead Press 3 x 5
Deadlift 1 x 5

And on each week add a little bit more weight. The first week will be all about getting my form down with only a little resistance and getting used to the weight. On the off days I'll be playing racquetball (Mondays, if possible) and then hard DDR sets on Wednesdays, Friday will be a rest day (but I'll still walk at work), and then Saturday will be more DDR and body-resistance work outs (calf raises, sit-ups, push-ups) or doing shit around the house (shoveling snow, raking leaves, painting, cleaning, etc.).

I'll probably do some light DDRing on my lifting days because I think it's still fun and it's a good cardio warmup.

My goal is to keep at this throughout January and then add different exercises to the routine in Feb.

The Aria is going to be here Tuesday so I'll have my first weight update then.

Update my previous post so you can now see how fucking fat I was in 2010!
