I've known about DDR for years, but I don't think I really started playing it until ~2008-11 or so and I didn't really play on a machine regularly (occasionally at Great Xscape or Gameworks/Tilt in Indy); I played at home and at school on a softpad.Merk wrote:Where did you first learn of DDR and which arcade, if any, did you regularly play at?
My highschool didn't have a gymnasium, but they required a PE program so PE was essentially log 100 something hours of physical activity throughout the year and since I am a dumb nerd who only likes to spend his time playing video games I ended up getting a copy of Hottest Party for the Wii and learning the game with that mix. Before then I had a sort-of interest in Rhythm games having played EBA/Ouendan and a little bit of osu! on the computer, but I wouldn't have considered myself really into rhythm games at that point. After I got to the Expert difficulty in Hottest Party I started to realize DDR was fun and began looking at other mixes and such, ended up playing a bunch of MAX 2 and Supernova on PS2. I never really used machines that much which I could pretend to attribute my shitty timing too, I do try to play whenever I get the chance, though, but I'm always rusty as balls. Since Gameworks in Seattle has Pop'n 14 and Technika 3 I end up playing those most of the time instead.
