"Back in the day", I was happy to have simply passed the thing without the bar.

Then again, I was playing it on double.

I can't do that anymore :(

I don't think I have ever played a 10 or any song on ITG or Pump without the bar. I guess I'm just too fat and lazy! 9s and below are strictly no bar and boy howdy do I love playing them that way.

Just for the sake of having something picked, and since Chad (incorrectly) guessed your intent, let's go ahead and pick DanDanDo as this week's song. So, Xepher for last week and DanDanDo this week.

I got 82 greats + 18 non-combo on Xepher. That's about as bad as I was expecting.

67 greats + 6 non-combo on DanDanDo.

Is it just me or is Xepher off? I've always had kind of a tough time with it in IIDX but I don't know if that somehow translates into me sucking at it on DDR or if it's actually legit off. I don't know, I never really thought of over the top choir sounding songs as good DDR songs.

I haven't played DanDanDo but I will hopefully get around to it in the next few days!

It doesn't seem broken to me, but I'm a pretty lousy judge of that kind of thing unless it's egregiously bad. But didn't SuperNOVA have a bunch of busted sync problems--only some of which got addressed by the patch? And if I play it, it'll be on SN2 or X2, so my experience may be completely different from yours. Still, it's not like I set the bar very high. I think you'll be able to beat me regardless.

Since it's Monday and since we've been talking about it and since it seems we haven't done it yet, shall we do Daikenkai for this week?

My recollection is that I've AA'd Xepher Challenge Double on SN (at Gameworks Chicago), so it can't be THAT far off. The chart is fairly hellish. I've certainly never noticed any sync issues on that song in particular, but I've also never played it on Single (though my understanding of the engine is that shouldn't matter). All of the sync problems on SN1 I knew of were from the old stuff, not the new stuff.

I'm also not a particularly good judge of sync, but I tend to notice if things are bad or very different (e.g. 5th Mix feels weird to me and is widely regarded as being "fine, but different").

Honestly Xepher to me doesn't have a real obvious downbeat so I probably think its off since you have to play more visually instead of listening to the music. I'll admit that it isn't as off as Red Zone, iFutureList, or the end of Stoic but I struggled with the timing nonetheless. I am fat so that also plays a big part in it.

If I can get to sleep before 9:30am this morning I'll get up early and stomp some arrows since I'm actually behind this week!

Really? I think the beat is pretty obvious. I pick it up instinctively just listening to it.

The music is fairly syncopated, and the chart tends to follow it, so maybe that's what you're feeling.

Do you have any formal musical training at all? That may be the difference.

Why would you shower right before playing DDR?
