Stepmania

Post by Fluffyumpkins » Thu Mar 01, 2012 12:17 pm

I've been thinking about how terrible StepMania is lately, and I figured this might be a good place to start up a discussion. I think we can all agree it's a spaghetti coded, poorly implemented, generally POS turd of software application that doesn't do what it's supposed to do. When it isn't crashing, it is a very poor substitute for the real thing. Even the built in editor is too clunky to use.

What other faults can you guys help me add to my list?

I wouldn't know since I don't play it anymore. So if I do bad on this song that's why.

The way it was engineered, it's a wonder anyone ever played it to begin with.

You keep using that word. I do not think you know what it means.

I think the word you are looking for is "grown", or perhaps "thrown against a wall and scraped off", but I guess that's more of a phrase.
A normality test:
+++ATH
If you are no longer connected to the internet, you need to apply more wax to your modem: it'll make it go faster.
If you find this funny, you're a nerd.
If neither of the above apply, you are normal. Congratulations.

If anything, it's more like horribly mutated!

Stepmania is open source so if you're angry about the way it's coded, grown, horribly mutated, thrown against the wall and scrapped off, or engineered then you can change it! Richard Stallman died for your sins!

It is more fun to bitch about something than to give it praise (lolol Supernova) so yeah fuck Stepmania and the furry that wrote it.

Desktop Linux is fucking trash for anything that isn't development. You may not be able to run Windows on a toaster or on your computer from 1992 but at least I won't have to wait 5 years for some Scandinavian kid to write a really, really shitty knock off of some app that I could have paid for and enjoyed when it first came out.

I'm just saying, if something breaks in Linux and you're not MonMotha then good fucking luck trying to figure out the problem on your own or by digging through forums that are more than likely not going to be in English.

But hey at least it's free, just like Stepmania, and there is certainly something to be said for that.
