Prepare to be disappointed with end game SWTOR.Riot wrote:I honestly truly enjoy all the Final Fantasy games, except for some of the early ones sometimes. 1-3 I often feel obligated to trudge through to be a "series completionist," but they just aren't that good. I liked FF13 and thought it had a fun battle system and gorgeous graphics. For me, a lot of times story takes a backseat to gameplay. If it's a great story, even better, but I usually don't let that deter me from playing completely. I love good battle systems and customization (job systems, yay).
Speaking of wasting time, I'm currently level 45 in Star Wars: The Old Republic. I powergame through every MMO, get burned out, and quit, usually bitching about how there are no good sandbox MMOs anymore and praying that some form of a new Ultima Online-esque game will see the light of day. I'm still having a good time with this game, despite it being a themepark MMO. However, who knows how long the ride will keep me interested as level cap approaches and limited PVP options only keep me occupied for so long.

I really love CS:GO's 64 tick servers.

Yeah I've been 50 for a week. It's pretty much just grinding warfronts and Hard Mode Flashpoints. Buuuut that's what I expected with all new MMOs. Anyways, I just installed a private shard of Ultima Online again for nostalgia.

Started God of War III. After Dark Souls and Zelda, this game is outstanding. Probably a bit over halfway through and loving every minute of it.

Forgot to note, you can L2 item cancel any move at any time as well as L1+X item switch (no cancel) any time. The combo potential for this game is nuts. There's also have a block/parry system that isn't a clunky glitch mess like Dark Souls.

I didn't know there were tourneys. It's the unbalanced-yet-familiar PS version too. I will happily let you trounce me for $2. I might register for some of these other ones too. Really REALLY looking forward to this event.ImuyumI wrote:Puzzle Fighter 2. I'm gonna pwn everyone that comes near me at the Louisville Arcade Expo and take that trophy home.
Merk: 3rd Strike tournament on Dreamcast. Get your best character ready that doesn't require much execution.

Yeah, as of right now, Puzzle Fighter 2, Mike Tyson Punch Out, Combat (Atari) are the ones I'm concentrating on. Might play 3rd Strike, but will play Twelve for the lols.Fluffyumpkins wrote:I didn't know there were tourneys. It's the unbalanced-yet-familiar PS version too. Re: What games are you currently playing?
I am replaying through Final Fantasy 9 since I played it once when I was 15, beat it, and thought it was a gay furry game.
It still is a gay furry game but I am utterly surprised by how short the discs in that game were. I plowed through the first two discs in about 12 hours - FF7 takes about 12 hours to get through disc 1 on a casual playthrough as a point of reference. FF9 has a lot of FMVs though which is probably why the discs are so short.
I think this game's biggest downfall story-wise is the antagonist. Kuja is so unintimidating and so moustache-twirly evil (i.e. He's a bad guy for the sake of being a bad guy) that it's detracting from the game a little bit. Vivi and his internal struggle with his origins and his child-like curiosity towards life is pretty much the highlight of the game plot-wise. Steiner, Quina, and Eiko are all just comic-relief. Amarant might as well not have any lines. Freya gets about 10 minutes of plot with the whole Fratley thing and is then quickly forgotten. Garnet, Vivi, and Zidane are really the only characters that have anything to do with the story.
The battles are annoyingly slow but eh, you get used it.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I just might actually now that I'm up at all hours of the night and there's only so much I can do at those hours other than play video games. I've sort of been blitzing through old shit since there are absolutely no distractions other than petting cats such as Baby Maxwell.
I played through Sonic CD since it showed up on PSN, working on FF9 now, and I've got Nier on deck as my next game. I'm not sure what to do after Nier though, everything has been sort of a let down after Xenoblade.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Lost Odyssey's battle system is slow, but fun in my opinion. It's very old school. I think that game had the best writing and storyline this gen, especially if you read the dream sequences. They are so bittersweet and well done. I loved that game's music and overall style. In my opinion it's a mix of FF6 and FF10... it's what FF11 would have been if it wasn't an MMO in my opinion. The voice acting is generally very good (Jansen is funny, Kaim is great, the kids are jappy and annoying as expected... especially when they sing in this one scene... ugh). I guess I connected with the whole idea of immortality the game is about. PLUS IT HAS A WORLD MAP SO THAT'S KINDA COOL I GUESS CUZ YOU DON'T REALLY HAVE THOSE ANYMORE

World maps are fucking cool as hell and I am really bitter that it's in vogue to not have them.
