Re: Merk vs. IndyDDR: The obvious choice
Let's do Paranoia Clean Mix.
Did anyone else ever call the original Paranoia remixes by their little subtitles (ie. Paranoia Clean Mix, Paranoia Dirty Mix) or was that just something my little initial DDR group and I did?

Re: Merk vs. IndyDDR: The obvious choice
Yes...but as opposed to what? Do you mean as opposed to PARANOiA KCET (clean mix) and PARANOiA MAX (dirty mix)? I don't think I remember anyone calling them KCET or MAX at the time. It was just Paranoia clean mix or Paranoia dirty mix...or just Paranoia clean/Paranoia dirty if we were being especially lazy.Merk wrote:Did anyone else ever call the original Paranoia remixes by their little subtitles (ie. Re: Merk vs. IndyDDR: The obvious choice
Correct, as opposed to their actual names which are allegedly Paranoia KCET and Paranoia Max.
Well hey I'm glad you called them that too, Brian.
Anyway! Did they get rid of Oni Courses in the later mixes? Supernova has them, obviously, but did they ever stop doing them? I got the impression that X2 does not have them.

Re: Merk vs. IndyDDR: The obvious choice
Your impression is based on the state of US Bemani. The courses are all handled via e-Amuse now. And since we don't have that luxury here in the US, we don't have the courses either.

Re: Merk vs. IndyDDR: The obvious choice
Oh my God, why? That's retarded. What if someone had a personal machine and didn't want to / couldn't hook it up to e-amuse? There is literally no option to play courses off-line? Why lock out content like that?

Re: Merk vs. IndyDDR: The obvious choice
You'll just have to play the songs normally on 1x.
Re: Merk vs. IndyDDR: The obvious choice
I believe they have weekly (or some other period of time) contests through e-amuse, so that content is released that way. Having been to Japan, I will tell you first hand that Bemani is EXTREMELY e-amuse driven over there. Almost everyone I saw playing it put their card in first. And it's not hard to understand why...Konami puts all the content that players want on e-amuse so that they demand it. Then they charge the arcade operators for being on the network. It's a revenue source for them.
Also the US and private owners are not Konami's target audience. So that's a double whammy against us...well, me and Chad, anyway. Konami is in business to make money, not appease Merk. In fact, I have it on good authority that they don't care about Merk at all. There is a picture of him in their offices with a big red X over it. They also have a sign ala Office Space ("IS THIS GOOD FOR THE COMPANY") that reads "Will this make Merk happy? ... DON'T DO IT!"

Re: Merk vs. IndyDDR: KONAMI COMPOOTER entertainment TOKYO
Not gonna lie, I am pretty excited to play some DDR tomorrow. I really, really hope no one else is at the arcade because that pisses me off to no end. I don't ever want to talk to people when I'm playing DDR. I just want to go in, stomp some arrows, get some scores, and leave. I hate having to make small talk with people who feel the need to talk to me because we both have a habit of stomping on arrows.

Re: Merk vs. IndyDDR: KONAMI COMPOOTER entertainment TOKYO
Sorry, I've been SUPER AFK!
I'll get on doing all the weeks I missed this weekend during my arcade party.
Brian and I were talking about splitting off and doing a doubles event the two of us and anyone else that wants to join in. Brian, Im willing to make it superNOVA 2 and under songs that you can find on all the mixes of DDR current and below to start out with if you'd like then we can jump to higher mixes later if you would like or for special weeks during the year. Doubles is where its at for me and as Brian proved earlier this past weekend he can spank me in marv. timing.
I propose we also post the marv/perf window as well as what greats we got since there were a number of songs I was able to beat you on when counting straight greats and this will pose more of a challenge for me against you. Let me know what you think and I'll start the appropriate thread with a song selection following.

I am too poor to do doubles but I will follow whatever thread you guys decide to make and cheer on all respective parties.

Re: Merk vs. IndyDDR: KONAMI COMPOOTER entertainment TOKYO
Guess what song I just learned was in SuperNOVA but not SuperNOVA2...
20, November

20, November
Re: Merk vs. IndyDDR: KONAMI COMPOOTER entertainment TOKYO
So which 20, November chart is it that we're supposed to be doing? I'll just go ahead and load its native mix to get my score.
In other news, I have come to the realization that I've barely played DDR during my hiatus from this activity. I am out of shape (again/already) and it hurts really bad. I got a 28 on Wookie Wookie. I'm sure I could do better than that...just not tonight. :/

Re: Merk vs. IndyDDR: KONAMI COMPOOTER entertainment TOKYO
Sorry to rewind the conversation a few days, but I felt like saying that even though I rarely play anymore, I still carry my e-amuse card in my wallet.
Once I got used to using e-amuse it made not want to play at any arcade that doesn't have it. There have been a few times of me passing by a DDR machine while I was wearing my DDRable shoes (when I'm out and about I'm usually wearing either bike cleats or sandals), was about to put in some money, realized it wasn't connected to e-amuse, then left without playing.
Not having e-amuse is definitely a deal breaker for me and probably most players here.
