Westside Fun Park

Post by Ho » Wed Nov 09, 2011 2:08 pm

I was recently at the Ramada down on Shadeland near I-70 to meet a friend. They had one of those little displays with brochures for local attractions in it. I noted a couple of things...

#1 There were several brochures for not-local attractions...like some places in Ohio.

#2 There was a brochure for Westside Fun Park. (which would be clear on the other side of town from where I was, but given #1...what the heck!)

Anyway, there was a website address on there, so I decided to check it out.

I noticed 3 things when I got to the website.

#1 It hurt my eyes. Really, it did.

#2 Westside is for sale. (Which I actually knew from at least a year or two ago. I guess it still hasn't sold.)

#3 They appear to have an arcade again. And at least in the picture, it looks like they have an ITG2 machine.

Now, I'm hardly going to drive all the way across town for an ITG machine. But I figured I might put the word out in case someone that has more interest than me wanted to check it out. However, their website states in big letters that they are closed for the season. So it will have to wait until spring.

In case you want to see for yourself: www.westsidefunpark.com
(just be warned that you may not be able to see for a few minutes afterward)

Last I was there, they had an arcade, but no ITG.

So this is actually closer to me than Tilt and it's just outside of the Lafayette Square area so someone can actually take me there. If they do have an ITG2, then they will be getting a new regular customer... :D

Also if someone here has the money buy the place ok

This place got rid of their entire arcade at the end of 2006 (I think that's right...I can't remember at the moment). In the Bemani realm, this included DDR Extreme, drummania 6th Mix, and ParaParaParadise 2nd Mix. That's why I mentioned in my initial post that they have an arcade *again*.

I see.

Who the hell were you going to meet at a Ramada on I-70?

No one you know...or at least I'd be very surprised if you did and it would make for a good "small world" story. He's someone I know from the murder mysteries I go to. His regular job is a truck driver and he happened to be making a stop in Indy.

Big surprise...NOT.

My recollection about Shaffer and seasonal locations is that the machines are removed and redistributed during the off-season. That makes sense...they might as well go somewhere where they can actually make money. However, the same machines may or may not return to the seasonal location when it reopens.
