Re: Fantasy Football interest thread
Holy shit, we have four people now. Two more people and we can officially start a league!
Oh... Oh my God. IndyDDR might actually be doing something social outside of DATs and the random arcade meet-up.

Re: Fantasy Football interest thread
I think I'm going to have one of my buddies, ipwnzj00all (I think he has one post on here), join this league as well. He is a complete Fantasy Football novice so there's no need to worry about being intimidated.
That brings the count up to five. Who wants to be the lucky 6th player? We only need one more person to reach the minimum!
Brandon? Chad? I figured Brandon would be all over this.

Joined, be ready for some Ad Hominem assaults. I'll bring the trash talking to a whole new level...
Re: Fantasy Football interest thread
BTW, I barely know how fantasy football works. So if it seems like I have no idea what I'm doing...I DON'T!
This will probably be like how I pick brackets for March Madness...
- "I'm picking this team because it has a better mascot."
- "This team's name is prettier."
- "I dated a cheerleader from there once."

Re: Fantasy Football interest thread
Merk I just stalked your Yahoo profile and it turns out you were apparently a fantasy football league champion last year.

Re: Fantasy Football interest thread
Yeah I got lucky and the players I drafted last year all turned out to be top tier. I had something crazy like
Aaron Rodgers QB
Andre Johnson WR
Chris Johnson RB
Who were all easily in the top 5 of their position. Since the league was small I was able to drop and add defenses with relative ease and I could usually grab the teams that whose defense would crush the other team. Remember that Sunday night Eagles vs. Redskins game last year? Yeah, I think I won my fantasy match that week by like a single point because the Eagles defense was absolutely clutch and everything went in my favor. Hell I think they even blocked a field goal or something, something that rarely ever happens in football, to seal the deal for my victory that week.
I just went back and looked at the league draft last year and holy shit my picks in the first few rounds all turned out to be duds. It's amazing that my most baller players came in the last half of the draft.

I've only been in one fantasy league, but that was back in 2007? I think. Shaun Alexander and Ladainian Tomlinson were still going 1-2 back then...the times they are a changin'.

Re: Fantasy Football interest thread
Yep! Those guys have lost a lot of fantasy value unfortunately. I had LT back in the 2008-2009 thinking he was going to be my ace in the hole but he had already lost his mojo by then, his decline was certainly a lot more sudden than other players but I guess that's expected for running backs.
If you want my advice the absolute top-tier players this year are going to be:
Ray Rice RB
Andre Johnson WR
Dallas Clark TE / Antonio Gates TE *Antonio will probably be a bit better since Vincent Jackson is not playing on the Chargers for some time now*
Top-tier fantasy QBs all tend to have similar fantasy value numbers, so any of the following will help your team out immensely but I think the top QBs this year would rank like this:
Aaron Rodgers (His ability to get running touchdowns will give him a slight edge over everyone else)
Tony Romo (The offense is ridiculously stacked this year)
Drew Brees (Pass-oriented offense and he has a bunch of weapons to throw to)
Peyton Manning (Same as Drew, they are probably about equal in terms of fantasy value)
Philip Rivers (He'll have a meh season with one of his top receivers gone, but all the other QBs that would be better than him have either retired, been thrown in jail, traded to horrible teams, or are unsure if they can play next year)
And if you're desperate:
Matt Schaub - There's a lot of variance with this pick but sometimes it's better to gamble than choosing a QB that you know is going to have a sub-par but consistent season
