*sigh*

Goodness. All Saint Patrick did was explain the Christian Trinity with a shamrock; it helped the people understand and helped convert them to (semi, at least) Christianity. He didn't run around forcing beliefs, or killing Pagans, he simply explained what seemed be a mystery to those around him.

But it's been so secularized that it really doesn't mean much to anyone anymore except those of Irish/Celtic heritage and those who enjoy alcoholic beverages.

So, in a few words: Get over it, already.

I wasn't arguing about the purpose or history of it, I was just retaliating.
As for the holiday? I don't celebrate it anyway...I'm not Irish, and I don't drink regardless.

What wonderful reasoning.

I agree, the things he said were pretty uncalled for, but does returning the deed make his viewpoint of Pagans any better? I doubt it. And isn't that what you want? For people to understand that being Pagan doesn't mean you sacrifice an animal every full moon, and other such outlandish behaviour?

Taking the high road is a lot harder, but at least it has dignity, and it helps in breaking stereotypes, certainly more than just back-lashing with more insults.

Of course, I'm probably being too optimistic, and humanity is probably doomed to an eternity of malicious, childish squabbles.
Signatures sure are awesome.

Not just you Pagans! This is exactly the reason why I said that. They usually make a comment to inform or whatever, we say that's nice but we don't care if you're different. Pagan throws fit/vows revenge. I hate lots of people. I'm not aligning myself with the pagans, christians, or anyone else. Certain things just get on my nerves. Trust me, I don't single out people unless they really deserve it, theres plenty enough of my hate to go around.

It seems I got my point across. I can throw stereotypes around, and guess what? People get pissed off! Exactly. And when I refer to the 'christians,' I meant the damn god squad, the kids that wear the pro-god t shirts to school every day and make the point of trying to 'convert' everyone they think is 'different.' Not your every day christians, I generally don't have problems with them. It's the super-christians that bug me.
By the way, the people you're refering to aren't exactly true pagans, they're just trying to find something new and different, and they're excited about it, and want to show it off, like most people do with any new thing they get. Most pagans I know don't make a point of their religion unless they have to, or they get extremely offended.

Have you seen Saved? That is just the movie for you. I was cringing through most of it, but at the end it's all just... hell yes, thank you! I'd recommend you give it a viewing.

BUT, there's more of them than you it seems. Stereotypes are going to be placed on you because of those little fuckers. I used to be Alexandrian sect Wiccan, and the same happened to me. Blame it on them that people dont give a fuck about religious history.

Yeah, it's happened to me before too. If people 'label' me with them, I just explain to them that I don't follow their path. If they continue to make a point, or people continue to try to 'convert' me, that's when I start to get pissy. I enjoy talking about religion, so it generally doesn't bother me when people approach me about it, unless they're too close minded to acknowledge me.

Well this is a late reply, but I just got home fron spring break.

Daytona Beach + All kinds of green + Night Club + Furious Drunkeness = a good time for me... A 22 year old college Jewish male that couldn't care less about the origen of the holiday.
