Indiana Tech Tournament

Post by Fluffyumpkins » Wed Sep 10, 2008 8:19 am

DDR-A-Thon 7 seems to have raised interest in having another Indiana tech tourney. It has already decided that DDR-A-Thon 7 will not have a tech tournament, but that doesn't mean we can't discuss another event. I think it would be a good idea, especially since we've had plenty of PIU tournaments lately. Does anyone know what arcades would be open to hosting a DDR/ITG tourney? GxS in Bloomington is the only one that comes to mind.

Like I have said before, we will have a tech DDR tournament someday, Daniel has told me many of times to run one, I thought it would be better if we waited till we got Supernova 2. Cause I dunno how many people would be on board for a Supernova 1 tournament, now that SN2 is out and been out of a while.

Yes, but at this rate, by the time you actually get SN2, X will already be out. :?

Is it possible to put Extreme in a Supernova cabinet? I wouldn't see why not. You guys should get Extreme yo that shit's tight.

another thought as well, either way, a tourney at the GXS unless on SN1 will not take place for a while

Actually, it's just about impossible without hacking the wiring to bits. They changed a fair bit of stuff. Even un-converting a cabinet I can imagine wouldn't be trivial given some of what they did.

If neither of the above apply, you are normal. Congratulations.

I know this thread is old, but I thought I would put an idea on the table...

XScape in Indianapolis has been talking, and/or might already be in the process of getting Absolute. I was thinking that perhaps Xscape could hold a summer Pump It Up tournament because:

1. There is DEFINITELY enough room to have a lot of people
2. It's a newer arcade, so it will probably attract a lot of attention
3. More people means more donations. Usually.
4. Andy says that weekdays are better for him than weekends, and during the summertime, more people would probably be able to make it on a weekday than a weekend.

I am going to be talking to Tim about possible tournament ideas. Does anyone else want to be in on this (preferably people that live in or around the Indianapolis area)? Let me know.

Yeah, I'd definitely be interested. You'd have to contact me on Facebook and/or AIM to remind me though, I'm pretty bad about checking the forums lately.

Personally though I'd be more interested in a DDR tournament than a PIU one though, but either works.

Are you intending to make this a charity?

Personally, I have no interest in a tech tournament,

I could try and help, but I don't have much interest in setting something like this up. Tournaments are a lot of work, and as Jim can attest, it has the potential to be very thankless.

I won't lead the effort, but I'll lend a hand if you need one. Cause I'm baller.

I had a discussion with Jim about this not to long ago and I decided after the shit I got at the last tournament I am not having another one, I am ok with the thanklessness but last time was just rude and inconsiderate. last time I just got shit from a lot of people and made me decide I am not doing tech tournaments for a while, if ever.

I'd love to be a part of the event (As I don't play PIU due to my lack of access I would probably help run things or film the event) but due to a large chunk of my unit deploying, my Annual Training is set for May 19th - Early June. If it's outside of that period of time I would love to help support the event.
