I doubt anyone will disagree with me when I say that mainstream media does a very poor job of portraying the true thoughts and beliefs of the presidential candidates. I watched a few videos from the news and was pretty annoyed when they showed the candidates talking for like 5 seconds and then some dumbass annoucer basically summarizes what the candidate said.
So I'm starting a thread with the intention of posting important/meaningful presidential candidate speeches. No summaries or advertisements =]

Obama speech on separation of church and state. Hope the link is to a ~40 minute video. I thought it was very well thought out.

I just saw sicko, and it was really good. Lots of good points. Sold me. Wish I could post a link here that would teleport you directly into the theater when you clicked it
The only thing that I thought was lacking from the movie was some meaningful cost/benefit research on the differences between USA and some of the countries mentioned like Britain, France, and Canada. I saw lots of opinions and emotional appeals, but no convincing statistical analysis. How much do they pay in taxes and how much is for their health care system? But, regardless of that, I'm sold. #37 is pretty sad.
One of the funniest moments is when Bush is speaking to a poor woman and she's like, "I work three jobs!" (to pay her medical bills) and Bush is like "That's fantastic!!! How American!"

To add to that, since I saw it too (I guess I can't spoil the movie, lol)....it was REALLY REALLY good, this is Michael Moore's best movie yet. It blows all his other documentaries away. It had me in tears during some parts, because I really felt terrible for the poor citizens who got denied health care because of whatever bogus reason the CEO's of the healthcare companies gave them. Our healthcare system is TERRIBLE!
Seriously, if you haven't gone to see the movie GO SEE IT! It's amazing and worth going to see. You won't be disappointed.

Hmm Michael Moore isn't running for president (as far as I know
), but anyway...
Despite my political beliefs (pretty much a flaming liberal), I've never been a fan of Michael Moore's movies for the most part. They're just too one-sided, and don't even attempt to show multiple viewpoints. I haven't seen Sicko, but from what I've heard he makes no attempt to actually investigate the health care systems of other countries in any meaningful way (as BigBadOrc notes). Still, it's probably worth a watch, and yes our health care system is pretty messed up right now...

I know what you are saying, and you are right, he is not running for president. However, I think that he brings up good points, relating to politically controversial topics. He is very one-sided, but because I am a liberal too, it has never really bothered me. It could be useful for Michael Moore to show more statistics, rather than to tell everyone that healthcare is free in other places and America just sucks because our healthcare isn't free. It's more or less a matter of where our tax dollars are going, and where the tax dollars of other countries are going.malictus wrote:Hmm Michael Moore isn't running for president (as far as I know), but anyway...

in the spirit of trying to get a fair view of all presidential candidates =]
ohai guys mai name iz Rudy and i haz a video
actually 12 short videos that autoplay one after another to sum up his issues. it's a good broad summary and i felt more edjamakatez0red after watching. i've always been pretty apathetic about politics. this is the first year that i'm actually interested in learning different opinions, and i'm hoping that every candidate has at least one interesting idea.

rudy is incredibly ignorant, and after he completely and blatantly interrupted ron paul calling him absurd when ron said that our military actions have consequences, ron then made a list of books and handed it to rudy, telling him to do some reading if he honestly thinks he knows what hes talking about. major lulz

"There is no shame in calling out and pointing the finger of contempt at a short-sighted, mean-spirited, powermad little pig like Rudy Giuliani. He has exploited his dictatorial "courage" at 9/11 for far too long. He is not a Republican. He is not a conservative. He is not even a man."
