The guy is rich, apparently he's retired from a successful casino business, and opened the arcade because his son wanted an arcade. =P Nice guy though.

Is there any update as far as what the rules may be?

I have no idea what the rules are, but I stopped by the arcade to try out PIU this Saturday, and the attendant mentioned that they were holding a tournament, advising me to come back in "a couple of weeks" and register.

This tells me two things:

1) They really think they'll have the rules out in a couple of weeks.

2) They're really, REALLY trying to get the word out about the tournament, regardless of skill level - there's no other explanation for someone suggesting *I* enter.

Arka, there may be more than just a Crazy division or it means that any difficulty is selectable on your pick. I was bumped down to the losers bracket because someone managed to full combo Let The Sunshine on me (I missed 1). You should enter, it's always more fun with lots of people.
Yea, I'm like Mother Teresa, except I pwn.

In seeing that this is an independent arcade owned by a guy that seems to actually care about the gaming community, has anyone ever considered mentioning Zero to him?

It would be damn lucritive to have the tournament on a Zero machine since it would ultimately be the first (or tied for the first) United States tournament on a PIU Zero machine ever. It would no doubt draw in an ever greater number of out of state players and possibly (although unlikely)a few people away from going to the Sponored tournament in Minneapolis for the few people who haven't booked a flight/hotel yet.

I brought up PIU Zero with him a couple days ago. He was unaware of its recent US release until I informed him of it. We talked for a bit about it and the upcoming tournament, and he actually said that if he upgrades the PIU machine, it won't be until at least AFTER the tournament "so people won't be caught offguard," presumably by all the new songs and whatnot. I understand his thinking... but then again, I don't. I'd figure having the newest version of PIU available would draw in more people, which seems to be something he really wants.

I would claim that...but I did that to MonMotha, not you. ^_^ I could do it to you, though, if you wanna. :P

Anyway, you definitely should enter, Arka. You never know what can happen. How else would I get past round one??

You win, girl. You definitely win. Now I have to meet you.

I'm fairly certain I wouldn't knock MonMotha into the losers' bracket, whatever happens. But I'll keep that in mind. :P

You probably could, if you picked the right song. But then again, I'd just pull Monkey Fingers... again. :)

I hate that song almost as much as I hate you for picking it and forcing me to play. I mean, I could tolerate Motha kicking my arse on Starian (Crazy), but that was just cruel, especially for a loser bracket match.

If you picked almost anything on Crazy 9 or above, you would have beaten me.

But I forgive ya; strictly business, I understand.

Up here on the Exceed, there is no Monkey Fingers, and I rejoice. However, it's missing a lot of my favorites...I'll have to go to D&B's sometime for it.

Arka, yes, I did beat MonMotha on Let the Sun Shine (Crazy). He took the sixteenth run too fast, used to doing so on other songs. That's what you get when you're a speed demon. But he killed me in Battle mode, since I didn't quite understand its strategies (and he sent some EVIL mods my way...) and sent me to the losers' bracket, where FLAKK thought it would be a good idea to play Monkey Fingers...and thus the stuff above this.

Monkey Fingers is still there :) .... and some of my lost favorites that will never be back again (Run to You, Burning Kryp, You Don't Wanna Runup, and a few others I can't remember).

Here's the code to get you Monkey Fingers: 9, 9, 1, 7, 3, 9, 7, 9, 9
edit: I think that gives you the Spanish versions of Oh! Rosa and First Love as well.

That sounds personal. I'm assuming this was after the Sun Shine Incident.

The faster they move, the further they fly when they trip. Or something like that.

Something tells me that's not an uncommon experience. Web-based descriptions make Battle Mode sound far more complicated than the equivalent for DDR or ITG (where the modifiers are automatically picked by the machine).

I know it's a long shot, since the rules aren't out, but does anyone have information on whether this tourney will involve battle play? I think enough practice could make me almost mediocre on the standard arcade mode, but I have no way to practice battles.

I think MonMotha would agree that Andamiro's engrish makes Battle Mode seem more complicated than it actually is. :P

Quoted for Truth! Not to mention they don't give you ALL the rules there. Arka, if you want to learn battle mode, have an actual person teach you. It'll make more sense.
