A) How OMG DARK the band is

C) How they as people are so misunderstood

Remember that. Your musical taste isn't all powerful. Goth metal, or all metal in general, is about the power of the music, not the words alone. Yeah, the lyrics aren't always that exciting by themselves. Most metal is about music, and about energy. Not words.
Yeah, lots of people can write emo songs that make people cry and rethink their life, or whatever the hell they want to do. Not everyone wants to man, not everyone likes that! Some people just wanna crank up the stereo and turn off their brain for a while, just get lost in the drum and guitar driven rock music.
Some metal bands have meaningful lyrics, but they're still not the focus of the song. It's always about the music, because that is what fans of the genre care about. Not how emo and poetic the singer is.

You know that Jeff listens to hardcore and even some grindcore? Most of the real hxc is sometimes even heavier than metal. I agree alot with Jeff here, Rob Zombie sings about nothing. "Slam in the back of my Dragula"? Are you kidding me?

Rob Zombie isn't so much a goth/metal musician, as he is a performer. The entire album this song is quoted from, Hellbilly Deluxe, is more or less based on cheesy horror movies. The lyrics aren't supposed to be anymore more than that. Also, he is known for his performances and his theatrics, as well as his many side projects, not so much his music itself.

Also, how do you get heavier than metal? If you're refering to pounding out a low E chord over someone screaming, that's hardly a comparison. Good metal is about melodic structure as much as it is deep, distorted chords. It can range from more brooding things like Slipknot (omg!!!!), all the way up to faster, more melodic sounds like Shadows Fall and Atreyu. You could call Atreyu punk..ish, but since they play in metal fashion, with heavy metal chords and scales, I'm lumping them into the heavy metal category.
I'm not saying that's what you ARE talking about, but I've heard that argument plenty of times before. People say 'OMG that's so fucking metal!!!!1.' But really, I can do that. I could do that after a few weeks of guitar lessons. It's not hard...

Ok I didnt read any of this, so this might have already been said. Rob Zombie flat out said in an interview once "They make the music, and I make lyrics to go with it. It doesnt matter what it means." He just made lyrics that fit the song, not lyrics that meant anything.

I must say a giat WTF to this whole thing. You have no idea of what kind of music I listen to. I make fun of bands that "make people cry and rethink their lives"(evenescence, Nickleback, Creed). What I always hate about these bands is that they try to act reeeeeeal hadrcore, but in reality, they are just putting on a show, and kids are eating it up like fat kids eat cake.

Also, for the last part I bolded, I just have to say (yet again) wtf? I listen to songs with titles like "Helen Keller is writing my Autobiography". Heck, my sig is a quote from that song! Lyrics really aren't that big of deal, but Hot Topic bands almost always talk about the same thing. Hey, how about a song about how awesome Nascar is? Oh wait, thats what country is for.

Also, I would like to point out that I don't only listen to hardcore bands. I also dig everything from bjork, to David Bowie. But don't ask me if I like Pink floyd, because I don't. I think Moody Blues are ok though! (yay progressive rock! omg, I'm such a hippie)

You have to dig a little deeper than that man. Also, Hot Topic isn't really about Metal anymore. They sell the occasional T shirt, but now they're more into this alternative, punk and emo stuff. Which, to me...hell, sounds all the same, just like metal would sound all the same to you, or someone who may not listen to it on a regular basis.
The lyrics are often dark, yeah. But singing about happy subject matter over metal music generally doesn't work that well.
You say you hate how they act hardcore? That's their job. They're performers, and they put on a show. Again. That's their job. Furthermore, not everyone acts like that.
