I remember Malictus saying he taught theory at Butler a while back... Too bad I couldn't have been there back then.
Man, who are you!!? ^^ A fellow bulldog, har har. Oh, you know Mulholland? He's a great guy and I believe he teaches theory. You prolly know him though, heh. I used to be in University Choir. Were you at the Spring Sports DDR thing?
I, um, won the DDR event at spring sports...

Yep, but it was only for one semester. I really liked the campus and teaching there but driving from Bloomington and having to be there at 8 was not the best thing in the world...

Purdue's campus is nice, I like brick ^_^

Still can't wait.

I'll probably be seeing you at the robotics competition next week. Enjoy the campus.

I had a suspicion it was you, but I wasn't positive. =D Great job btw. I wish it would've been a co-ed thing.... winning among the girls was cool and all... but I would've felt more accomplished if I could've tried my luck against everyone.

(sorry this got kind of off topic)

My Purdue bashing is all in good fun. I actually have a shirt that says "Friends don't let friends go to Purdue" in giant letters on the back. People see it and ask me about it (often being IU fans), then they see the Rose-Hulman logo on the front and just kinda go "what?".

All in all, Purdue is a fine school. I hear their Industrial Engineering program is top-notch (referencing a joke that some of the Rose guys may get), and their other engineering programs are great too. Not to mention the various sciences, including computer science, and many other programs. In fact, that's one advantage of Purdue: they've probably got a program for what you want to study.

I just like to make fun of Purdue because that's a past-time these days here at Rose. I'm not 100% sure how the rivalry got started (it apparently didn't exist in the 70s), but I like to do my part to perpetuate it. After all, friendly rivalries often end up making both sides strive to be better off.

I think this rivalry you speak of is kinda one-sided. The other week a large group of my friends and I were talking and someone mentioned Rose-Hulman in some context. Out of a group of around 10 students here, many of whom were engineers, only two or three people had even heard of it or known what is was (me, the guy that brought it up, and maybe some other guy).

You guys may make fun of us, but very few people here even know about you guys, much less make fun of it. Now what could that mean? Could it be that some school has an inferiority complex and makes up for it by making fun of those better than them?

More likely that Purdue is just big enough and common enough that people have heard of them, but you can't say the same about Rose.

Purdue really is a fine school, though I certainly like Rose better than I think I would have Purdue. They're really not in the same league though. Purdue is huge, has a degree for almost anything, a real graduate program, etc. Rose is tiny (<2000 students), has limited selections for your degree, and the graduate program is almost a Joke.

We just like to make fun of Purdue for whatever reason. I know there's certainly a rivalry between some of the guys at Eli Lilly over Purdue vs. Rose-Hulman.

We have, however been selected as the #1 undergraduate school of engineering, science, and math that doesn't offer a doctorate program more years in a row than I can remember by now (I know it's at least 5).

Let's put it this way: If I hadn't been accepted at Rose, I'd be at Purdue right now.

Very good points.

On a somewhat related note, had I realized I'd end up switching from a tech-based major to liberal arts I would have just started out at IU. I like it here now though and don't really feel like leaving.

How is the liberal arts program at Purdue?

That's what I'd be going into if I go to Purdue.

The general consensus is that if you're going into a tech-based major you should go to Purdue, and if you're going the liberal arts path you should head to IU.

As I've only ever gone to Purdue I really don't have anything to compare it to, so I can tell you what it's like but can't really compare it to a program somewhere else. First off, the College of Liberal Arts is by far the largest school on campus. It's also probably the easiest school to get into and is the fallback school for when you can't really do much else.

Some of the classes I have to take seem like such a joke while others do a lot make you think, so you (or at least I) don't really seem to learn how to exactly do anything per se, as it's more of training yourself to think in certain ways. When it all comes down to it I like it, but I'm getting concerned about the prospects of me actually finding a job once I get out of here with my assloads of debt from student loans.

being from bloomington, let me tell you. I FUCKING HATE RIVALRYS.

When I said I was from bloomington in *ANY* class at purdue people would always go WELL YOU OBVIOUSLY CHOSE THE BETTER SCHOOL.

I also fucking hated the way the classes were so impersonal until you got to 300/400 level courses for most majors.

Sorry, I just despise Purdue. I cannot *wait* until I'm at IU. FUCK purdue. The hatred is valid and warranted.

I was absolutely amazed today in that the teachers in all three of my classes so far today actually called me by my first name when they spoke to me. I'm finally getting into the classes that are small enough where they remember who I am.

It's been a long time, but since May 1st has come and gone, someone of us have made their final decisions.

I decided to go to American University for Political Science.

Go Eagles!

How 'bout the rest of you?
