Made it today during first block, it's promoting Perry Meridian's Robotics team. Not the final product... considering I just put about an hour or so into it... but I think it's turning out pretty well.

Thoughts?

First off, make sure to deinterlace DV footage before compressing it.

Interlaced is when it displays all the odd lines then all the even lines then all the odd then all the even, etc. If displayed on your good ol' TV set you'll see nothing wrong, as that's how it draws images to begin with, but if you display the video on a computer monitor (which is progressive and draws odd and even lines in the same pass) you'll see a bunch of horizontal lines and tearing during places when the camera or on-screen object moves, especially during fast motion. To get rid of this tearing when displayed on a computer monitor you must deinterlace the footage.

There are multiple ways to deinterlace video, some of which suck and some that create very nice looking results. To deinterlace video I personally prefer using VirtualDub with the Alparysoft Deinterlace Filter, as it uses a very nice motion estimation algorithm that produces pretty good results. Premiere also has internal deinterlace options if you wish to do it when you render the video.

If you need help with VirtualDub or Premiere's internal deinterlace stuff send me an IM and I'll help you out.

Also, if you encode interlaced video with a codec that thinks it's dealing with a progressive source you'll end up with some really assy looking compression, especially when it comes to horizontal tearing (watch previously posted video for a good example of this).

......Oi! Some people are hot in that video!

But down to the "advice" there was a lot of looping of a some footage, I dont know. Repeating it twice is alright, but when you repeat it more then that it gets kind of boring and redundant.

Other then that I think it looks pretty good....but then again I dont make videos for a living or anything, Im just and average person viewing it.

Actually, none of that footage was looped, it's all different footage that , I will agree, looks similar. So, tomorrow I'm going to take some of the robot stuff out, and put more people in. Such as cheerleaders... yes, cheerleaders at a robotics competition ^_^

And could I ask which song is not cliche, in your opinion Mr. Worm? Keep in mind that this song must appeal to all people. That's right, everyone. I think I came close enough.

And to the Dancing IU whatever - a) who are you? b) where are your videos? c) if you have nothing constructive to add, then step off bitch.

Ah, well yes cheerleaders will work! maybe put more of actually working on the robot and more people like you were thinking. Are you making this video to show off the robotics team or the robot itself? Like trying to get people to join. If you are trying to get peopel to join then I highly suggest to put more actuall footage of people working ont the robots and having a good time...ya know?

I kind of like the music....

Yeah, I agree. More people, because it will probably be used to show off the robot and get people to join the team.

God, whiny mofos, I was just kidding.

Redub it in iMovie or something to make the quality not so choppy. Find better music. I don't know, it just looks like something my grandfather made, so make it not look that way.

I have good movie software on my computer if you need it...

I am using good movie software - Adobe Premiere. Nothing wrong with it, it's a profressional grade program.

Not going to change the music, but thanks. Kill Bill Soundtrack is awesome. Kill Bill is awesome.

As for the quality of the video - it's a low render WMV file, meant to be downloaded quickly on the intraweb. Actual quality will be much higher.

SWEET. You guys are awesome this year, amazing bot w/ a great mentor Micheal Long. He got into FIRST through our team in his Senior year at Perry High School.

Maybe we could get some DDR going at Lawrence North H.S. during the Indiana Robotics Invitational this summer ^_^
