I'm guessing they were from Ohio and that they weren't particularly good at DDR but they had a lot of passion for it. They were probably a weeb and didn't have too many friends but the DDR players in the area begrudgingly accepted them and the weeb thought it was the best thing that ever happened to them and were ecstatic that they sperg out on Nippon culture with another person and not be immediately shunned. They were kind of the artsy type so what better and more appropriate way to express themselves by carving a DDR thing into a pumpkin?
