Why is DDR so addicting?

I have pondered this question many times, and still cannot find the answer. Is it just the game itself? Is it the people who play it? Why is it that you just can't play one song...you have to play one after another, until 8 hours later you thinking "what the crap?"?
I find my fascination, I guess, with DDR to be a combination of many things...the people, the game, and the enviroment. Mainly the first two...

What about you?

to me... it is a mix between the environment and the ability to improve... cause i know that if i play the song again chances are ill do better.. and so i know that makes me want to play more

At first for me, it was the fact that I gained much satisfaction out of smashing arrows to the beat of so many songs. Once i was done with a few songs, I just had to try the rest. Once I had tried the rest, I just had to try and get better scores or play harder routines. It was a long lasting cycle. And when you add people to socialize with, it makes it even more fun and time consuming.

It still is sometimes!

Yes, that's exactly why I started playing in the first place.

You make my life complete.

It isn't. I stopped playing DDR in December, i went back and played maybe 3 or 4 rounds sometime in January and couldn't believe i ever played it so much..it wasn't even enjoyable.

Change baseball to basketball and you have it.

DDR is addicting for awhile until you get tired of it, and then you get back on it again. The addiction comes in spurts.

I first got addicted to DDR when my friend showed me it. After that I was like, "This is fun!" and "I could do better than that!" It's kinda like any video game. You think you can always do better.

I dunno, there are some other reasons too.[/quote]

It's funny you say that...cuz I remember I used to think all DDR players did drugs.

...but it really passes the time for me, especially since I'm not as busy these days.

For me, DDR is rather addicting because of the songs and just the feeling of satisfaction afterwards. I love most of the songs, especially the really 'cutesy' ones, more than any normal person really should.
The excersise, damn if ya don't break a sweat, is really refreshing too because I'm a lazy fat ass. Motivation = teh win. Then there's when you actually do really good and you get this rush right as you are finishing a song and giving it your all.

I haven't been able to meet many people through DDR yet so I can't honestly say the people draw me cause most of the people here in Michigan are asses and I dislike them very much. =D But you all seem really spiffy so I'm really lookin' forward to meeting people.
