Some of us are in the market to purchase DDR, IIDX, Technika, and other Arcade games. A few of you have already amassed impressive collections of these games and may regularly see, but have no interest in, other good deals. If you find a good deal out there on Ebay, Craigslist, or other internet source for a rhythm game, please post it here.

Seems pretty good if you actually enjoy Pump:

I don't know how you can upgrade it on the cheap though!

Move thread to the Trading Forum?

This man will ship to Indianapolis for the cost of fuel. Could end up being a good deal!

Romeoville is where Lewis University--where Shane works--is at.

But do you really want a US SuperNOVA cabinet?

Do they have a reputation for being of poor quality/construction? Game aside, I didn't know anything was wrong with the cabinet itself.

In a word: yes. I can't say I have all the details, but the ugly marquee box is enough of a turn off for me already.

I'm more concerned with the quality of the pads, sensors, and monitor. I can deal with the marquee, and even cheaper construction materials (so long as they aren't total crap.) I was under the impression that JP and US cabs were of better construction than Korean cabs.

Side note: The reserve is probably stupid high.

I can tell you this much: The US 1st Mix/USA cabinets and the US SuperNOVA 1/2 cabinets are two completely different beasts.

US / Betson Built Supernova cabinets are more like a 1st-3rd Korean cabinet in terms of build quality with the added caveat that the stage is...off.

The stage isn't bad, and it uses the same sensors as the original design, but it's built to a slightly different plan (or maybe just by a different factory who interpreted the plans differently or tried to clone the original design without plans) and has some quirks that make it not work quite as well.

The cabinet is kinda blah in terms of build and materials. It's all thin MDF rather than the ~3/4" heavy plywood used by the Japanese builds. The wiring isn't as hackish as the Korean cabinets, but it's not nearly as clean or quality as the original Japanese ones. The neon transformer is some thing made for "open" signs and similar, which causes the unintentional, but not necessarily displeasing, fade effect of the speaker neons. The boxy marquee is definitely a put-off, though.

The monitor is pretty well featured. It's the same KT-2914DF that's in the Neo Pump It Up SX cabinet that Ho has. Also found in Big Buck Hunter, etc. It has a nice picture and is wildly capable (15k-38k so CGA all the way to SVGA), but it has a reputation for being a bit problem prone, and they ship cranked so high that, unless the operator re-adjusted it, it probably has some burn.

They're certainly way nicer than the DDRX cabinets, but I'd still take an original Japanese or US (identical to the Japanese ones) any day.

Ah. I figured they were manufactured similarly.

Completely unrelated fact. The last person to say 'cata' here was me in 2007 and I did it ironically.

Ironically, you also have the penultimate usage of 'cata' on IndyDDR.

These things are fuckin' awesome, btw. I went in one while I was in Taiwan like 3 times (it had several "movies").

eBay has some fixer uppers right now on DDR and PIU. They sure come and go often these days.
