Has anyone tried a Blue Shark?

Post by letshavetea » Mon Mar 03, 2008 8:27 am

I've been looking into new pads and... I must admit the blue shark has caught my eye. I've been looking for a good DDR pad for a while now, and this one seems like a winner... does anyone have any experience with one of these, or know anything good/bad about them?

The only two things that you need to worry about with a Blueshark is that you get one that ships working cause the support team for the company sucks and that the bar is not all that strong.

Aside from those two it's just like the arcade.

Haha I was kinda sorta plannin on it.... want to drive to Florida?

I'm planning on just setting up a permanent DDR "station" in my house so that I don't have the excuse of "well I don't want to hook it up" crap... plus with a 85 lb pad I don't really think I'll be moving it much. I bought another Xbox today (Not 360) to use with this pad. (I got the Xbox for $15...)

Now that Stepmania 4 is on Xbox and it runs great... I'm set. Only problem is the lack of space on the hard drive... I'll only be able to have like 6.8 GB of stepmania :P.

Which reminds me... does anyone know of a good PS2 -> xbox adapter?

Winter Park (basically Orlando)

It's kinda funny really. There's an arcade 3 miles away from my apartment... but.. I haven't gone. I went to the arcade in Daytona Beach... but.. that was because it looked epic.

all the local arcades have bad ratings on DDR Freak so... it makes me rather hesitant... plus that arcade that's close "Rocky's Replay" allows smoking... and... ehh not what I want with my didder

Once you get a Blue Shark it's awesome and is easily the best home pad I've used.

The bad part, and this the dealbreaker and why I can't recommend it, is that the reliability sucks. Horribly. Our (Purdue's DDR club) pad died within a few weeks if I remember correctly. The company's support was practically nonexistent.

It's really too bad, because in the odd event that it works properly it's really quite a damn good pad.

We're doing a freeze in Orlando on the 14th. Somewhere in the window of 11-1

Location still isn't set.. but... yea if you're available... and have a way out here... haha

Anyhow... BLUESHARK....

Overall... worth the $400?

I plan on getting a blueshark eventually. Just need a first floor apartment first :(

I've actually been to orlando and ITG'd there.. at a huge laser tag facility.. i think the building looked like it was sinking into the ground (intentionally) or something and was right next to mini golf.

6.8 GB is way more than you'd need on stepmania.. cuz loading many songs = eats ram like crazy = stepmania goes slow T.T

interesting that stepmania 4 runs on xbox 360 though.. i will have to try that. is it pretty easy to setup?

I do believe he said it's on an Xbox, not an Xbox360.

tehe If you don't have an xbox... I recommend grabbing one for either the emulators, Stepmania, or Xbox Media Center (lets you stream media from your PC to your Xbox) I bought this one for only $15... my buddy picked up two the other day... $13 and $20 for em... he threw a post on our school's forum asking if anyone was willing to part with theirs for cheap....

Yea, it's on the original Xbox which only has 64 MB RAM

I've tested Stepmania 4 on an xbox with only about 1 GB of songs and it ran perfectly if I run it off the HDD... if I run it off a disk then the RAM issue comes to play and the game sucks hardcore.

I'm gunna go test it with the HDD packed full...
