Which of these two pads would be the better choice?
I want to buy a "foam" soft pad for my home version until I can save the money to afford a arcade-style pad. The best pad I have is the official Konami brand pad and even that slides around and gives me pad misses. Which of these two would be better off and why? I plan on buying the blue-shark pad w/ bar later but for now these are my two options:

I just love the way Dancing on Arrows make me feel, especially when I pass out from this song....

I had Ignition 1.0s that I liked just fine. The Ignitions were my favorite home DDR gear (believe it or not, I actually preferred them to Cobalt Fluxes) back when I played on home pads. Although I must admit that, with the exception of Mario Mix, it's been a good 3-4 years since I've bought any or really bothered to follow what's available or what's good.
I think one of my Ignitions finally died at some point and the other one has been loaned to someone for years, but they've never mentioned any problems. I doubt I'll ever ask for it back...though I'd kinda maybe like to get my PS one and Konamix back one of these days.

As far as price goes, and you're looking for a multi-platform pad, I'd go w/ Ignition 3.0 I've got one 2.0 and two 3.0 pads here, for use on Supernova and Stepmania.
I recently bought one of the 2 remaining Ignitions at Gamestop in Bloomington, and it was only $50, and it works well on Xbox, PS2, and PC.

If you play heavy don't get anything other than metal.
Foam / Soft pads are only useful for getting from noob-Heavy. Heavy and up it's just a waste of time.

Can get ahold of me @spookyxcraig

Well I bought the Ignition 3.0 for my girlfriend and it works great for stepmania, of course we can play like some 8s...mostly 6s and 7s. I will probably get her a metal one if she gets like up in the harder songs....Cobalt Flux FTW...

I found that out the hard way. I have some $70 knockoff, but it was better than a piece of fabric with "sensors" in it.dance1005 wrote:And just because a pad has metal on it doesn't mean it's good, either.

Fun fact: only 3 posts at IndyDDR.com contain the word "boop."BigBadOrc wrote:boop
I passed everything but PSMO using arcade timing on Extreme JP on an Ignition 2.0. They seem to work just fine. Anyone who says 10s are impossible on them is lying or not trying hard enough. It isn't like playing an arcade stage, but they work just fine.
A normality test:

If you are no longer connected to the internet, you need to apply more wax to your modem: it'll make it go faster.
If you find this funny, you're a nerd.
If neither of the above apply, you are normal. Congratulations.
