Supernova PS2

Post by Bionix » Thu Sep 28, 2006 4:10 pm

Well i just got it today and i must say it is very good. The songs are cool and they have a good version of dance master mode. The characters are smooth and the backgrounds are very interesting to watch. My fav song right now is "Battle without honnor or dignity" you might reconise it from the movie kill bill when O ren's gang is entering the house of blueleaves.

Something that I should mention is that there are 5 songs that are only playable in online mode. I know two of them are Trim and Nijiiro, but I don't know what are the other songs.

I will say this about this release, aside from what I mentioned above and my personal dislike for Stellar Master Mode this is the best US release that I have seen to date. Sadly, there are a substansial amount of songs from the arcade that did not make it on here. Here's the list that I have of songs that are arcade only currently.

SuperNova Arcade Licenses: (Only 3 out of the 19 licenses made it to console!)
A Love Like This
Da Capo
Doesn't Really Matter
Feel Just Like It Should
Girl In A Daydream
Give Me Up
Golden Sky
I'll Make Love To You
La Bamba
Long Train Runnin' (Different song that what appeared on MAX2)
Love At First Sight (Twin Masterplan Mix)
Modern Girl
Surrender (Your Love)
Toxic (FT company edit)
What A Wonderful World
Wookie Wookie

Konami Originals: (7 out of 12 songs made it to console)
Flow (The original version!)
華爛漫~Flowers~
Honey Punch
Morning Glory
Seduction (Vocal Mix)

From other Bemani games: (20 out of 29 made the jump to console)
Hunting For You
Drivin'
Under The Sky
DanDanDO(The true MAN's Road)
Cachaca
Chikara
Dragon Blade
Konoko no nanatsu no oiwaini/この子の七つのお祝いに
Mondo Street

Well at least this time around you have to do more than just play the songs in dance master mode.

I haven't played the arcade version of SuperNOVA quite yet, but the PS2 version's sync issues don't seem to be very evident. I'm liking it just for the FMV videos of "Video Killed the Radio Star" and "DoLL".

I've made a modified backup of the game to use arcade timing and was able to match the arcade timing dead on with a Cobalt Flux at +2 for my offset. (Note: I am using a HDTV and a CF so 0 should be good for those playing on a standard def TV and non CF platforms.) From what I've seen, this is the exact same engine used in the updated version of the arcade with home version features added into it so there shouldn't be any problems unless the song in question is just plain fubared!

If I (read: Microsoft Word) counted correctly, that's 74 songs! If I remember correctly, Extreme 2 only had 63? Quite an improvement, especially considering that like 90% of these songs are BRAND SPANKING NEW.

Actually, there's 79 total songs. 5 of them are online-only (bah!) though.

Yeah, I just realized that I forgot to count the online-only songs. This just proves my case even more, though! I'm hoping to buy it today, but I got mad because neither Sam's Club nor Meijer had it, but I'll probably stop at Best Buy or EB Games later today.
