Hacked or not, Extreme does indeed have x0.5. All the hack does is make a feature that's already in the game available whenever you want.

So is it available at all if its not hacked? :?

I think some trick courses use it. I think when Ho said it was "available" he meant the machine was capable of doing it, just that you're not allowed to choose when.
Ho, am I right? AMIRITE?

Clarifying statement:

x0.5, Brake, and Wave are in Extreme. They appear on some songs in some of the Oni courses. They are not selectable during normal play. However, there is a well-known and widely available hack that puts them in the options menu so they can be used with any song during normal play.
dance1005 wrote:Well, there is no .5x on Extreme. Otherwise, you'd have yourself a deal.
I was responding to this statement in an extremely narrow fashion. He was probably being more general stating that he wouldn't be able to select x0.5 with So Deep, and that is indeed correct. However, he simply stated that "there is no .5x on Extreme," which is not true.

In response to Potter's comment, I was stating that x0.5 exists without hacking. The hacking doesn't "create" the mod. It only makes it available at times that it otherwise isn't.

I've never actually seen Dan play, so I have no idea how serious he was being or whether he could actually do it. I certainly believe it's possible, but it wouldn't be easy. Basically, I was just eliminating his broad statemetn as an excuse for not attempting it...basically calling him out to "put his money where his mouth is."

I'll be happy to try and arrange for a machine to have x0.5 enabled if that's the only thing stopping him from trying this.

I'd be impressed. x0.5 Brake makes a horrible mess on screen. Even if you know the rhythm, it's hard to pick steps out of the "arrow blob" that forms at the top of the screen.

I read most of the notes about halfway up the screen, so I don't know that the brake would affect me that much. I try to see what's coming and remember it. Of course, there would probably more notes to remember at .5x, but I still think I could do it.

That's nothing compared to Pump's 0x speed-mod. X_X Try that sometime (if you havn't already).

That is a horrible mess though.

0x?!?!?! Do all the arrows start on the outline, and you have to have the song memorized or something? Or is it just an approximation/exaggeration of something really slow?

It's truely 0x. I hooked up a keyboard to my machine and pressed 0 on the number line, thinking it may give 10x. Nope. It starts out normal, then all the arrows just migrate to the top in a giant pack. A player must remember all of the steps. It's basically stealth.

Let me tell you Danny Boy, brake is pretty hard to read. If I'm not mistaken, ITG has a brake mod, though it's called something else. Try it out next time you're at the arcade.

Decel I believe, haven't played in forever so I could be wrong.

Oh and Flakk, try playing stepmania on C001. The arrow blocks don't just stay there, they have seizures since they try to move and they're all overlapping and braaaaaaaaap
