you could always build your own. I did that and it turned out ok. But I don't suggest it if you have no experience with metalworking. But you can build an arcade replica for ~$70

Yes, it probably should...

The RO Ignition is actually one of the best home pads on the market. I like it better than a Flux even for many things. It's not hard, but otherwise it's pretty darn good: durable, sensitive (but not too much so), and not overly expensive (unlike a Flux). Of course, an arcade stage it's not (but neither is a Flux).

BTW, I have a thin RO pad (that they don't sell anymore) available. Had one song played on it, to verify that it works. It's not an ignition, but it's about the best damn thin pad out there.

If your RedOctane (note the brand here...) Ignition gives random misses, it's broken...

I've played on generic "Ignition" pads and some of them do suck. I've even dropped freezes on them (how that's possible, I'm not sure)... However, RedOctane branded ones don't suck. I don't think I've ever gotten truely random misses (though, like all soft pads, they don't like quick taps of the same panel).

Yeah, I'm not sure why, but my friends have had horrible experiences from Ignition pads (made by RO). I'd say save up and get a CF or AfterBurner.
